Honestly George and Nicholas could've passed for identical twins in the modern days. and quite literally do that twin prank of switching classes with each other to confuse the class and teacher. And other than their haircuts you wouldn't be able to tell them apart.

No wonder the 3 monarchs- King George 5th of Britain,Kaiser Wilhelm 2nd the last German King and Tzar Nicholas 2nd the last Russian Emperor- were cousins.Only lucky cousin among the 3 famous monarchs would be the British King George Vth since his legacy is carried on by his great grand son and the new ruler of Great Britain King Charles Windsor.Sadly it was game over for the other 2 royal cousins Kaiser Wilhelm and Tzar Nicholas as both their regimes were game over after 1st World War.

@@s_lasgalen so the killing of the Archduke was by a Nationalist? And what resulted at the end was the rise of Nationalism. Which in turn spurred the beginning of WWII?
@s_lasgalen
@s_lasgalen Жыл бұрын
@@Shinobi33 doesn't make the war about nationalism. There's a connection surely but it's more complicated than that. WW1 resulted in complete misery for Germany which THEN resulted in nationalistic ideas. I'm not saying Nationalism has absolutely nothing to do with the topic but the main causes for the war weren't of that kind. Also the assassination of Archduke of Austria was simply the event that started the war, not the longstanding reason behind it. It's like a bomb: the spark starts the explosion but someone had to put dynamite there in the first place.
@Shinobi33
@Shinobi33 Жыл бұрын
@@s_lasgalen the war was absolutely about Nationalism. That's what stoked all the hatred for each other. A bunch of nations and people who had nothing in common but lived under the order and rule of these empires. Those uneasy alliances within these nations made it impossible for the uneasy alliances the empires had with other empires to work. So anything at all was gonna cause that tempest to explode over. The people forced great powers to fight each other. And since all ruling families were basically cousins (through centuries of inbreeding) they didn't want to fight, but had to. Sides were chosen as a way of surviving and holding on to whatever of their territories were left after the dust settled. Though there would be no going back to the old ways of dolling out land and ruling. Btw, the main catalyst of this was the industrial revolution
