kajukenbo is a martial art that is about ENDING the fight and making that person not want to mess with you ever again. Do whatever it takes for you not to get hurt.

I was blessed to be instructed by the late Sifu Doug Baliley. I looked at every style to calm my Chicago Irish temper and Sifu Doug taught me I didn`t need to live my past. And I became a disciplined fighter.

- I studied under both Reyes and Ramos in Fairfield California growing-up. Studying Kajukenbo really increased my confidence almost to a fault through life, however, it has also taught me many valuable disciplinary skills, such as to not use martial art skills for offensive purposes and to do anything and everything in life with passion and compassion. This was long ago but the memories are fresh. RIP Master Reyes and Ramos. And thank you for these lovely KaJukenbo videos.

Good technics. I like that the sequences are short and straightforward contrary to some kajukenbo demonstration where they throw a dozen of strikes to a still opponent.

@Switor I can understand that, and largely you are right. However try this: when the streight punch comes at you, clamp on either side of your opponent's forearm with your hands. This will stun or at least distract him. Than you can deliver a kick to the groin, and THAN perform a wrist throw

@AsturiasGuitar That actually sound very good! Now only to find someone willing to get himself kicked in the groin:) But it kind of proves my point- the techniques dont work without proper defence (such as your forearm clap). Trying to cath someone´s hand in flight and performing wristlocks in open position is like begging someone to punch you in the nose with the other hand..

I hate how they grab from a distance and also telegraph it. He doesn't even drive into the "Victim". The attack isn't realistic.

I wish I found a school in NYC that teaches this style. Snow Tiger Combat System is the ONLY style i seen that is effective as this style. From the philosiphies to the training is similar.

@AsturiasGuitar The problem is with the techniques themselves. Of course that practice differs from reality, however if you practice the wrong thing from the beginning the result will be bad as well. I like the counter-attacks, however the defensive techniques are wrong and will simply not work. Try on your next training releasing yourself from grab by joko uke, if your opponent is holding your collar strong. You will find yourself unable to break his grip and your head will be open to attack.

@Brazilianjj groin shots, eye gouges, throat chops, palm strikes, fish hooks, head butts, knees to downed oppenents, etc. are not allowed in mma. some were in the early days, and they worked really well. this art has worked for years and years on some of the baddest streets of hawaii. self defense and ring arts are 2 different animals. no, it wont go down like the videos, they are just reference points. but try pulling guard on a bar floor with 3 guys swinging chairs and bottles. perspective..

for a street fight, kajukenbo. Did any one see him lift the knife in the begining,or am i just seeing things?
@AsturiasGuitar13 жыл бұрын
@Switor It's called PRACTICE! Of course you wouldn't be able to pull it off if you don't practice. If you do, that's a different story.

@Switor wrong, I can do it, and i know hundreds of people who can also do it. It is a timing and skill developed over years and years of training, it includes attaining the skill of knowing when he will strike and what hand and path he will use, trapping the limb is a valid technique and is used in no rules competititions and street fights world wide.

holy shit are they serious to block a punch like that o0, this only works if ur mate do want u want hi to do, just let someone atack u who really wants to injure u, or try it with safety equip for head and chest and ull see it wont work in real situations ...

@Switor13 жыл бұрын
This is really NOT effective. It just looks kind of cool. If you look more closely, the defensive techniques lack any power, thus are overcome easily. Using joko uke as a release from someone grabing you?! That is nonsense, just try it on someone! Also, trying to catch someone´s punch in mid-air and than proceeding with wrist lock? This is all just for show and suicidal in real situation.

@milesackers29358 жыл бұрын
Yea they do because it's considered to be one of the most deadly hybrid styles in the world. You need to do some research. KJKB is right up their with Krav Maga. I have done my research. The training is brutal and designed for real world combat. They attack each other randomly on the street with any number of weapons and attacks, full contact. It is a combat martial art not a sport its applications are real world and designed to maim, severely incapacitate and even kill. I was a golden boxer a wrestler in high school and I trained in aikido from 7 years old till I was 20 and I would not want to engage a KJKB black belt.
@milesackers29358 жыл бұрын
+Miles Ackers some corrections I was a golden Glove boxer two years straight.
@dragonballjiujitsu8 жыл бұрын
Miles Ackers So you have all this martial arts experience and you don't see any problems with how these guys are training? lol I guess in boxing you are taught to throw a punch to miss the head by a foot or so then leave it hanging out there while the other guy does some completely stupid technique like grabbing the punch?
@milesackers29358 жыл бұрын
+dragonballjiujitsu it's a demo??????
@dragonballjiujitsu8 жыл бұрын
Miles Ackers Wouldn't a better demo be to actually show how they would defend real punches? You cannot catch a real punch in the air like that so why so it?
