Hello, I am a native english speaker from Canada. First let me say thank you for your videos. Although I have been learning Russian for years, it actually does help me to watch a Russian person teaching English to Russians. And so let me add to your video more ways in English we use our versions of "же"... In written form we would add many exclamation points and question marks. For example: What are you talking about???!!! Also we use the word "so" a lot to emphasize something. For example: I so want to go to the movies tonight. I so want to join the Canadian Military. That being said. I would like to kindly explain my reason for learning Russian. I struggled choosing a language to focus on... since Spanish and German were also very appealing. Long story short, when I was in my 20s, I called the american military recruitment centre and I asked them which foreign languages were in high demand... they told me. "Russian, Chinese, Arabic." I also chose Russian mainly because I considered being an astronaught for my personal interest in Astronomy/Science. And ofcourse Russia is not only a super power country but also a leader in the Space Industry. I actually have been trying to find a Russian youtuber to convince them to start a Russian news/Russian Space Industry specific channel. For example, a russian youtuber could do interviews with Russian astronaughts and or just visit the Russian Space stations. There was one channel that I found which did something like this however it was more science information and not so much up and close encounters with everyday people in the Russian Space Industry. That being said, I also have a youtube channel. I purchase and show English Books and Magazines to foreign audiences: mainly Russian, German, Chinese, French. And by the way, just so you know about me. I never actually went to work for the American Military. Americans put up many road blocks for me because I am gay and canadian and they even robbed my apartment and stole my belongings when I lived in Detroit and New York. The American dream is more like "The American Nightmare"... which also happens to be the name of the most famous American wrestler right now who I have a crush on. If you have any specific english books or magazines that you feel a Russian audience would be interested in viewing on youtube, then please let me know and I will purchase the books/magazines and put them on my youtube channel. Wow!!! Thank you for all your comments and for sharing your personal story! The way you chose Russian as a second language is amazing and creative. And with regards to your career, there is a saying: rejection is redirection ;) so I choose not to worry when somethings goes not the way I wanted it to go. All the best in your future endeavours! To watch videos with everyday people in the Russian Space Industry would be amazing, I think actually there should be more of something like that. Haven't ever done a research on how many of such videos exist on the internet. I'll think about that. With regards to your English books or magazines channel, have you ever considered maybe talking about the main points from the articles you've read? Maybe you could choose the one you like (or the one that inspired you) and tell the audience about your insights, some facts, ideas, etc. form the article (with you in the video, or just a voice over, or even some specific quotes)? This is how you'd motivate or inspire people to read those, discuss them and grow a community around it. Thanks again! And good talking to you 😊

Самая большая ошибка местных "учителей" английского, это приравнивание смыслов русских слов с английскими. Англоговорящие народы думают абсолютно иначе и одно и тоже слово в английском может иметь совершенно другой смысл. Все зависит от содержания слов в предложении. И самое главное, не берите уроков английского у людей, кто никогда не жил в англоговорящей среде. Они, как правило, сами не знают языка.

What about how come??? It seems to me that how come has the same meaning.

Hey! Thanks for the comment! “How come” is not exactly the same. For example: How come you don’t know my brother? = Как так вышло, что ты не знаешь моего брата? Don’t you know my brother? = Разве ты не знаешь моего брата? Детали и оттенки разные. В первом утверждается, что «не знаешь», и задается вопрос «как так получилось?» А во втором - больше про удивление, что не знаешь, или как вариант про сомнение и уточнение: знаешь / не знаешь? В multitran.com, например, если посмотреть значения для “how come”, то все про «как так?», «чем такое объясняется?», «это почему?», «как так вышло?», «отчего же» и тд.. посмотрите. Ну и для «разве» не увидите “how come”. По смыслу все-таки разные) Надеюсь, получилось у меня немного разницу подсветить?

@@JE_English Я вчера подумывал об удалении этого коммента, но потом решил оставить. Если не переводить слово в слово, то в принципе можно использовать в таком контексте и заменить. Например при парафрэйзинге.

Hello, I am a native English speaker from Canada. And by the way, just so you know Canadian English and American English is virtually the same, except sometimes in spelling and Americans have many different accents: boston, southern, new yorker, etc. While the Canadian Accent and French Canadian accents are the only 2. The only thing that is generally spelled differantly in Canadian English vs American English is the word "color" american english and in Canadian English we spell the word "colour" with a "u". We sometimes add the u to other words but not many and it is rare. The pronounciation is the same. Now... on to "разве"... in English we often say "do you NOT know how to get there?" "Dont you know the way there?" "Dont you find him suspicious?"... It might not be an exact translation of "разве" but it is close. I hope that helps.

@@PlanetSaturnClub Yeah, in British English they also have "u" in words like "color", "favour", etc. I had an experience of teaching English together with a Canadian English native speaker when we both lived in Bali (Indonesia). Initially he was not a teacher but I invited him to do it, he was excited and it turned out to be an amazing experience for both us. He also speaks French quite fluently (around C1 level) but his English accent is more of a North American one. And he also studied Russian and several other languages, studied Russian literature, read some Russian writers, also he has Russian friends, so we had a lot to discuss, it was fun! And it was always interesting to listen to him talk about Canada, its culture and so on. As to "разве", I absolutely agree with you and I gave some examples with NOT in questions in the video, too.👌Always liked this grammar nuance! Thanks again for the comments! 😊
