All right. three things 1. I love this joint and will be trying it for a bed frame. I think it would be ideal. 2. I wish I could get my chisels that sharp. I have not spent the time to be good enough at sharpening them. 3. That glove he is wearing made me think that a cat was holding the tools and wood. LOL

Beautiful! It is a bit relieving that even experts like you get a bit of tearout from time to time. 😄 I have been looking for a corner joint for quite some time now - this one right here seems like something I MIGHT (!) be able to actually make. Three to four grades worse than you did, of course, but still functioning is what I aim for. Thank you for this one!

Imagine a world in which such elegant joints replaced the hideous shrapnel-laden joints of industrial code. As someone who has walked deep in the woods for decades, I have often come upon piles of old wood from old houses. Without paint, the wood looks beautiful as it rots slowly into the forest floor. But always there is the danger from the shrapnel: screws and nails. It would be lovely if not only furniture but whole houses and even whole cultures were built with beautiful joints at the centre of the culture. Gorgeous.

He skipped the two hours he spend filing and possibly remaking the pieces, because when you eyeball the chisel cuts like this, it’s always biased towards a side, nothing is parallel to anything, nothing is flat, and you end up with something that doesn’t fit first and ends up with gaps everywhere.

저렇게 오차범위가 1mm도 안되게 만들어 놓으면 나무 수축과 팽창에 의해서 길이가 달라질때 어떨지 한 기둥에서는 안정돼 있을지 몰라도 네 모퉁이가 서로 극소 오차범위로 맞물리면 건조가 덜 된 나무일 경우 문제 소지가 다분할텐데 그래서 예전에 나무 작업할때 거제도 바다에서 3년 동안 담구고 2년 건조시킨 후에 작업을 했다하지 그러면 수축 팽창도 종료된 상태에서 조각하는 거라서 괜찮고 염해에 방부가 되서 안 썩는다고.. 위 영상의 목공은 기법 자체는 전통 기법이지만 부자재는 2년 정도 이상의 충분히 건조가 된 재료를 사용하는 것인지 여러가지 궁금

@@user-pl8cf6ig1m 기계로 더 잘 할 수 있겠죠 3D프린터로 공작물 제작하듯이 톱질도 전혀 문제가 없을 겁니다. 다만 이 영상은 전통 가공 방식이니까 영상으로써의 가치가 아닐까 싶네요
