In the wild, an infant monkey clings to its mother 21 to 23 hours a day until they are 4 to 6 months of age. The infant needs to feel the body warmth and clinging to the mother builds the infant's muscles. At zoos and rescue centers the workers take turns wearing a vest made out of a long shaggy rug so the infant can cling to it and build strength.
