I don't know what to say anymore. I have just discovered Ryan and have commented on his other videos. This is sheer brilliance like we have not seen since the actual 1980's. Many people play the guitar, but Ryan UNDERSTANDS the '80's sound. He gets the key, spacing, distribution, spread, and tone right on EVERY SINGLE SONG he does. It's like someone took some bloke who was in a cryogenic frozen chamber from 1982, woke him up, and told him to play his guitar on these crazy new songs from 2016, 2017, 2018. And so he did. It's one thing to play guitar over these songs, it's another to understand the '80's guitar ethic on the chords. He's got it. I don't know how. But he's got it. Wow.

TheRleslie no it was a good bit ago but I've been subbed ever since. I love the midnight and their new remix album coming out soon had me a little weary because I love their stuff in their original form. You compliment the songs so well it's like your guitar is meant to be there.

At the time he was using Digitech RP1000, but you can get similar tone with almost any readily available guitar multi-fx / amp modeler on the market (examples of which you can find in my "Guitar stuff..." playlist). General tip I may leave here is to use an EQ before the overdrive / amp and cut some lows, highs and boost the mids; this trick will give you tighter tone, even with the default (cheaper) pickups. Second step is to add a very quiet stereo chorus after the amp - usually before the delay and reverb. Have fun :)
