Demonstration of a pull through technique for cold process soap. SORRY FOR THE VIDEO SNAFU at about 19:00. I continued to fill the mold with soap using the same technique and then pulled the tool out slowly (about 6-7 seconds).
The tool I am using is this one from Love Your Suds:
www.loveyoursuds.com/store/p8...
Belinda is the inventor of the tool and design ...AND the first person in the world to offer soap design tools for other soap makers to help them in their soap making. Soap makers
have been pulling objects through soap for a long time but primarily in slab molds. Belinda's innovation was to invent the tool and design to work with column molds. Rather than keep the tool and technique to herself, she decided to share it with the soap making community to help others in their soap making. And we are SO GRATEFUL!! :)
Belinda has lots of other really cool soap shaping tools so check them out too.
Slow Moving Recipe:
Note: I make a 32 oz. recipe for the mold in the video.
Olive Oil - 40%
Coconut Oil - 35%
Rice Bran Oil - 15%
Sweet Almond Oil - 5%
Castor Oil - 5%
Water as a % of oil weight - 33%
Super Fat - 5%
I also dissolve 2 tsp of powdered sugar to the distilled water before mixing with the lye to slow the trace.

Thank you for this video. I’m just starting to learn how to make soaps. I am an artist and I have to learn quickly for my daughters new store. I love this technique. So far this is the first video where the cuts are so perfect. Wish we could have seen where the pours were landing as you carefully poured them around the stem. I can’t wait to try this even though I never made a bar of soap in my life.

Such a great video, Dianne! Beautiful soaps and thanks so much for sharing your technique with the squeeze bottles. I have always found the stem helpful in guiding the batter to the centre. The batter consistency is key and it you have nailed that too. Really well done 💕

Oh I haven't tried the kaleidoscope technique yet. Yours looks so symmetrical. It's really good! 😍 -Whittany

Thank you! I really did try a number of different methods trying to get that symmetry. The rod in the middle really makes it so much easier than trying to just pour it in or even use a funnel. You can be so much more precise. I hope you try it too!

Mountain Goat Soap Company It's on my list of techniques to try. I teach full-time so I may get to try this summer. Schools are closing for the virus, but I don't know I have the materials needed for the pull. I'll definitely revisit your video when time comes to try it. 😊

Love it! I do have a question how do you think natural colorants would do with this?
@mountaingoatsoapcompany252
@mountaingoatsoapcompany252 4 жыл бұрын
I think they would work great! I've done a lot of different ones with different colors and I've been using a lot of anise seed instead of TD so things aren't so stark white. I love natural colorants! Maybe I'll do the next batch with those! I hope you try it too!

I got this one on Amazon. Brambleberry has a similar one and I believe Soaper's Choice has one as well. Just be sure when you buy/make a tool you get one that fits the inside diameter. The silicone molds are slightly smaller than a PVC pipe so the tools are not interchangeable. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078SMRZRX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

In your commentary you mention that there is palm oil in the recipe but this isn't mentioned in your list of ingredients. Is it your 5% superfat? Thanks for sharing, really informative.
