I caught the NS SD40-2 and N&W that same day with Gavin, it was beautiful hearing that nice RS3L. These horns are my favorite, but K5LLA's are also cool to hear.

I’ve never gotten to hear a Leslie before. Sadly I’m in MN where there isn’t spots where you can sit there all day and watch the trains a lot only have 1 train a day. And a lot of quiet zones so you barely get any horn action here in MN

Interesting that your thumbnail photo is actually a Prime 920, which is a copy of the Leslie S3L that has been retrofitted with Leslie RS back caps and diaphragms. It was quite common to do this as the original Prime parts wore out, retrofitting the horns with the RS parts gave them extra life. I have a former BN PM990 (the Prime equivalent of the Leslie S3K) similarly modified by the railroad and is an excellent sounding horn. I believe that such retrofits were just slightly more mellow than the original Leslie RS horns because of subtle differences in internal bell casting shape and how heavy the Prime castings are compared to the Leslie castings.

I got a chance to here 649’s RS3L last summer. It was sounding a bit raspy but yet it was still it’s one of the most soulful sounding horns I’ve ever heard and it was hauntingly nostalgic (especially at 4:30 AM).

Ok, 1st, this is an Awesome video, and the RS3L's on Warbonnets are the best, 2nd I love the classic EMD sound, 3rd, Why are all BNSF GP's always leading really short trains?

NS 6775 is a really shitty RS5T
