This video made me buy the new Kamelot cd. I thought I'd moved on from power metal to more intense stuff, but this brought me back to my roots. The day a friend made me listen to When The Lights Are Down was the last day I ever listened to rap. I cannot wait for this new album release!

The song gives me chills, in a good way! You can tell Tommy has his own style, not actually trying to emulate Roy Khan's style. I can't wait to see him at Lake Buena Vista!

Dont believe that I dont deal, I fell in love with Kamelot to the beginning for Khan's voice, but later it was the music, letters so beautiful , lamentably Khan's decision isnt anything that we could change and dont believe that I didnt think like you, now I´m grateful for the choice, Tommy is a great singer, you must listen to the complete version. Ultimately I have ended with my finger in play again and again, allowing only that I should be charmed with without thinking about another voice..

to everyone saying he is trying to imitate khan, if you'd even bother to look up one video of him singing in seventh wonder, you'd notice that this is just how he sings, before he'd ever even toured for kamelot. thats the thing i like about tommy he focuses more on the music and his singing than on the theatricality

New singers often change both the image and sound of a band. I am very glad that is not the case with Kamelot, and I am excited for this new singer!

also before anyone complains keep in mind that the songs for the new album were written BEFORE Khan left the band and were tailored to Khan. the new guy has some big shoes to fill before we can really get a good measure of his singing talent.

Maybe you should consider that this was his THIRD full concert with the band so far and he never sung in front of so many people before? Of course there is no routine and feeling relaxed yet. Give him some time. I think for only the third concert, he does a magnificent job.

Power metal is one of the genres that has contributed to kamelots sound in all their previous albums, less so in ghost opera and poetry for the poisoned. But in the fourth legacy 'till the black halo power metal was very much present in their sound.

I am quite conservative when it comes to my favorite bands and when they loose a singer I usually stop listening to them. Karevik is no Khan, but is equally as good. I think I will continue to enjoy Kamelot as much with Karevik as I have done with Khan though. Two amazing singers!

Oliver and Thomas started writing new songs last October. So no, it ws not written for Khan. The songs were written for Kamelot. This is how the band is supposed to sound, no matter who sings. :)

i wanna see them live!
@Yvonne_247312 жыл бұрын
Khan left the band in April 2011 and Oliver and Thomas started writing the songs in October 2011 - all else before was just brainstorming. Also Tommy wrote almost all the vocal lines and lyrics. THIS is Kamelot - get used to it. ;)

Sounds amazing! The verses sound like 'Ghost Opera' era Kamelot and the chorus could have come straight from Seventh Wonder's 'Mercy Falls' album; what more could anyone want? :D

Power metal, with some prog-power, heavy metal, and symphonic metal influences, in that order. I'm not disputing that The Black Halo had symphonic elements or that their subsequent works have fallen into the same genre; I'm stating that the prominence of symphonic elements in their music has greatly increased, with a result that less represents my idea of what Kamelot is best at doing.
@OnceAgainICantSleep12 жыл бұрын
Tommy's voice seriously kick ass, gotta love his power and energy! (I hope in ten years he still has a voice, sounds unhealthy...) The only thing I have yet to hear from him is a nice little ballad... I want to know if he can come close to Khan's emotion and elegance while singing a slow song.
@Telekrus12 жыл бұрын
Assuming your comment is not rhetorical, what people are saying is that he's trying to imitate Khan's style. If you listen to him in Seventh Wonder, his vocals have a sort of high pitched, soaring quality. You get a taste of this at 1:06, but normally even more. (Also, I think he's doing that for the live performance, not because it's in the song. Khan had more of a deep, dark voice (like Tommy at 0:40). If I had to guess, I'd say this song was written for Khan before he left.
@GrayFoxKnight12 жыл бұрын
I love Tommy Karevik! He isn't trying to be Khan at all, he's just really similar to him in some senses. Who cares? It's like having a reincarnated Khan, who is immensely talented then! Don't bask on the past then, let's look up to having such an amazingly talented vocalist as our new lead singer, and welcome him with open arms! Let's go Tommy! Let's go Kamelot!
@MichaelFougere12 жыл бұрын
Can't wait for this new album, they're making comparisons to Karma and The Black Halo. tommy sounds great with the band.

Personally, after listening to the full studio version, Tommy's vocals here are better than in the studio recording. I actually prefer his here than on the studio track. Much more power. But that's probably because the song was done in like a day anyways haha.

Esse cara não é ruim, a voz até lembra um pouco a do Roy, mas...como o Roy nunca mais! A voz do Roy era muito suave, perfeita, sempre fará falta!

There are many different kinds of Power metal, some of which aren't very fast at all, but they still count. Power metal has evolved much since the early days of just "Melodic Speed Metal" where all bands were like Blind Guardian or Gamma Ray. Now, you don't have to be fast to be considered a Power band, you just have to have the vibe, feel, & usually lyrical content, which Kamelot do, with an added tinge of Gothic themes on the past 3, & clearly now 4, albums.

stop speak for Tommy-Khan, i love Kamelot with Khan and Tommy. They very defrend and that is biutiful in there. And this is new era for Kamelot. And i wait to comeback in Bulgaria.
@Yvonne_247312 жыл бұрын
He doesn't sound too much like Khan. They have similar voices which fits to Kamelot. This is how the band is supposed to sound. He has his own voice much enough, don't worry. Just wait for the release of the album and give it a try. It's the prefect fit.
