Kamila Valieva was phenomenal in the short program at Rostelecom 2021 ! And this is how she landed her Triple Axel and got a new world record, she is doing amazing and becoming a perfect figure skater.

are you allowed to rotate 1/2 turn on the axel take off? not sure

@@robertsoslow733 yes you are. Axel, loop and salchow requires 180 degrees rotation on ice cause it’s the edge jump.

@@nikitashaitan9984 if you prerotate to 180 deg then the axel jump entry is no longer forward but backward. Good technique usually between 90 deg to 120 deg. Nathan got flagged couple of times because he jumped this axel like that. People call it baxel

She has to manage the psychologies and emotions of a full squad of skaters. It's not like before 2018 when she could go all out with Medvedeva. If you watch her reaction in the Olympics K&C when Zagitova broke Medvedeva's 10 minute old Olympic Short Program record, you can see her concern. Normally it would be an event to rejoice. And I think it is obvious that Anna is the favorite of the entire coaching team and with good reason. But with Kamila, they have a prodigy. Tough situation for a coach.

@@jeffaldridge4051 I hear you. Daniel gave her a pat on the back. They're probably thinking "if only Kamila was one year younger, things would be so much more simple." Anna is a favorite for me but I just have to watch and appreciate what we are witnessing with Kamila.

When you rewatch Kamila and her StSq again, most especially after finding out it is dedicated to her late grandma, it just brings emotions out of you. As a fan of Aliona, I'm glad its Kamila that broke Aliona's two records. Kamila is technically and artistically talented. The only thing left for her to fix is that inside edge landing, long time between her jump combinations when she unwinds, and that excessive 3/4 prerotation on her jumps that make her triples look like doubles. Love the new dress for her too.

Kamila shouldnt have broken Alena’s record. Jumpwise, Alena was better with much larger jumps and no preparation for 3A. As for PCS well its too subjective. This sure gonna break Alena’s heart.

Amazing, full package. For me, the transitions and flexibility during the spins are what put her above the others. Personaly, I love the extreme extension with arms over the head during the jumps - but I know not everyone does... Her talent cant be denied either way, but it seems like they are not too thrilled to let Kamila have it, they prefer Anna Sherbakova obviously. I wonder if there will be another Alina/Evgenia Drama 2022...

Not always!!! Eteri always look scary for me (I mean I think she was KGB, lol) but during last Nationals in Russian she showed real emotion! She even had tears in her eyes after Anna skate! It was shocking!! And she showed true affection to her too! I was mind blowing!! Lol

Totally agree. Medvedeva beat world records with bad triples and not a single ultra-C element. You could criticize Valieva's lutz too but that triple rippon axel certainly puts her way above Medvedeva, and so does Valieva's performance as a whole.

Kudos to the triple axel but Flip is heavily Pre Rotated and has no vault with pick. Not sure how the judges missed that. Same for the lutz no clear edge or vault just pure pre rotation. Axel and Toe are her best ones. Very nice new dress it compliments the music. Ice queen I wouldn’t say that just yet 💁🏽‍♂️

To be honest, the short program record should not have been broken… Alena Kostornaia had bigger and better 3Lz ,3F-3T and her 3A had the most difficult entry among the girls, with zero preparation time (Kostornaia was the previous record holder with her performance in 2019). Meanwhile Valieva had much tinier excessive prerotated 3F and much tinier excessive prerotated 3Lz-3T… Well its such a shame to break record for the sake of breaking record. This sure also breaks Alena’s spirit as her record was taken away jus like that.. well.

If breaking the record is a shame, as you put it, so your beloved Alena does not need to be intimidated and demoralized. Each skater has her own style and then the international judges decide who is the best.

@@akimbohr Well i can have my opinion. And Alena is not my beloved. I just think Kamila should not have broken Alena’s record with the reasons i mentioned. Its a shame that this new world record even exists because tiny 3F and 3Lz-3T are not supposed to get GOE higher than 1. Its good enough that she can gain high marks for her quads, there is no need to overscore her tiny triple flip and triple lutz

honestly find it sad how these girls come out of nowhere and push every other skater out of the competition :( anna’s been working for this olympics for a longer amount of time and now she won’t be able to get gold

Одна беда, уж слишком часто сменяются лидеры среди девушек. Одна Лиза Туктамышева держится, остальные отсилы 2-3 года и сьезжают вниз по турнирной таблице. В чем причина - в читерской технике, которую ставит девочкам Тутберидзе. Эта техника рассчитана на малый вес. Как только вес становится больше 45 кг. - прыжки прощайте. Лиза потому долго держится в элите,что у нее техника прыжков получше. Я реально не понимаю за что такие оценки Валиевой, у нее заход на 4Т как на аксель. Как это вообще возможно? Хотелось бы, чтобы международный судейский корпус прекратил этот фарс. Не стоит засчитывать как четверные прыжки, у которых почти весь первый оборот скручен на льду. И не надо ставить оценки за скольжение вчерашним юниоркам как у Каролины Костнер. Хорошее скольжение из группы Тутберидзе только у Косторной. Как уже надоели эти грибы и результаты покровительства Лакерника. Хочется честного судейства и объективных оценок. Не сомневаюсь, что и при честном оценивании Камила бы выиграла. Хорошая девочка, но оценки завышены.
