I've always wanted to try the Mentos and Diet Coke challenge! Something about exploding soda sounds super fun to me! So we gathered several sodas with their diet counterparts (Coke vs Diet Coke, Dr. Pepper vs Diet Dr. Pepper, etc) and put them to the test with a big bag of Mentos mints!

The purpose of this challenge is to line up several soda flavors, diet and regular, and insert Mentos mints in each. Then, watch for the chemical reaction and see which soda shoots off the highest explosive fountain! That's science, folks!
My results weren't exactly how I thought they would turn out. As with many challenge videos, you can never predict with 100% certainty how things will go!
Didn't you also love my epic fail? I had it all planned out right in my mind, how to quickly get two stacks of mints into one bottle of Diet Coke... but things LITERALLY blew up in my face! I watched my reaction probably 100 times!
This would be a fun activity for a family game night, or with friends, classmates, etc. It is perfect for girls, for boys, for teens, etc. (I highly recommend taking safety precautions, by wearing a rain poncho and safety goggles for eye protection.)
We used the following sodas for our experiment:
* Orange Crush
* Diet Orange Crush
* Sprite,
* Diet Sprite,
* Coke (Coca Cola)
* Diet Coke
* Dr. Pepper
* Diet Dr. Pepper
