We asked Kamui Brand partner player Ralph Eckert to play a game of 9-ball while describing in detail his thought process and decision making throughout the game. Rather than shooting and hoping to find a clear path, Ralph takes care to think his way 2-3 shots ahead.
Subscribe to Ralph's Channel here: / @ralpheckert1570
He also includes some very good pieces of advice including how to trust your aim and playing multiple balls at once.

I love this guy’s vibe and his pool is pretty damn good too. Think my favourite part is where he runs slightly out of position; ‘in a tournament I say it is perfect, because you try not to be too critical of yourself. There needs to be at least one person on your side’

Ive come up a lot in ability to run out doing Tor Lowrys skill test on my table which is starting with 3 balls anywhere, you have to assign each ball to its pocket ahead of time and accomplish it 10 times before moving on to 4 balls and 5 and 6 etc. there can be no mistakes getting on the wrong side of the next ball shot line, can't shoot a ball to another available pocket it has to be the one you assigned at the start. Very tough but really teaches how on the first ball you need to be considering the last ball.

Hello Ralph, since all have answered so far in Enlisch, I do that now too. Well, you can not shoot much better. And then the perfect explanation, just great. I liked it very much. By the way, nice apartment. I'm looking forward to your next video. Greeting Heiko

Very nice :) it's easy when position is near perfect every time... a lot of us would get the wrong angle on the 8 or something. Hope to see more of these.

Rail first on the 2
@LeonFleisherFan
@LeonFleisherFan 4 жыл бұрын
Rail first may very easily cause the cue ball to end up where Ralph indicated he doesn't want it: too high, where the 6 may come into play shooting the 3. I personally would have gone one rail (either one, whichever looks best from his perspective) towards the 3, having said that, as Ralph indicated, because one will want to make sure not to end up behind the 9, the tendency is to get a straight-in shot on the 3. Ralph gets even better than straight in drawing, so he's got a point.

@marshalcraft 4 жыл бұрын
@@LeonFleisherFan I was saying draw that too. There no rule, not to use draw, when it's the obvious advantage shot, in that case it was a little more umph then a stop shot. Going rail first is doing too much when you don't have too. Going rail first and then messing up set up when you knew you could of easily done a light draw shot. Now if for some reason you want to test yourself with rail first when that fine, too. Nothing wrong with draw shots and stop shots when they are clear setup for next shot. It's when you are learning, and you get into the phase where you start trying to use them for every set up, and even then who's to say that is really bad?? I've seen SVB, and maybe Shaw play sometimes where thye are using bottom ball every time almost. So, draw shot is predictable obviously and you need to be able to use it.
@LeonFleisherFan
@LeonFleisherFan 4 жыл бұрын
@@marshalcraft I agree there's no rule and that one must practice and be able to execute every option to perfection. In a do or die kind of situation, I'd probably roll the ball in one rail because it's impossible to mess up other than the obvious, that there's a tendency to end up perfectly straight on the 3. But in normal matchplay, I'd use any solution you mention alternatively, the draw shot among other because it offers an opportunity to gauge the speed of the cloth - a free practice shot to learn something about the table, so to speak.
