That's how my grandfather died the week I was born, 46 years ago. He was fishing with a friend and to where down stream and did not hear anything, they felt a rumble and a big wall of water. He yelled at his friend to run, to climb up as he was higher on the river bank, He got swept away and cracked his head on rocks. He saved his friend.

The entire country of japan has the loudspeaker siren system. So the sirens you heard wernt 2. There are about 18 of them in the area. If you listen at ths announcments at the beggining, you can here the echo of the other sirens. Then a radio tone, then the 4 down chime to conclude the announcment. Really cool system

The release gates are high up on the dam. Glen Canyon has them much lower which helps to remove silt build-up.... I wonder if silt build-up is a problem on this dam?

Well, you will understand what My punishment is! 18 Even those before them disbelieved, but what was My punishment? 19 Have they not seen the birds above him with open arms, and when the wings are folded, no one holds them in the air except the Almighty. He is the One who sees and knows everything. 20 Who is your army that can help you but the Merciful? It is true that the disbelievers are found in a great deception. 21 Who is he that feareth you, if he should withhold you from you? No, but they persist in arrogance and disgust. 22 Is he who walks with his face to the ground more guided, or he who walks upright on the straight path? 23 Say: He it is Who created you, and endowed you with hearing, sight and mind, but you give thanks a little. 24 Say: He it is Who created you and multiplied you in the earth, and to Him you will be gathered. 25 And they say: When will this promise be fulfilled, if ye are truthful? 26 Say: "Only Allah knows, and I am only a warner to you." 27 "When they see it (Hell) approaching, those who disbelieve will have their faces disfigured, and they will be told, 'This is what you asked for.' 28 Say: Tell me, if Allah takes away my soul and those who are with me, or has mercy on us, who will protect the disbelievers from the painful punishment? 29 Say: He is the Beneficent, We have put our trust in Him, and in Him we put our trust, and you will know who is the loser. 30 Say: Tell me, if your water is lost in the depths, who will bring you on the surface of the earth?
