I have 3 CZ’c, a ‘73 250, a ‘73 400, and a ‘75 400 Falta Red Frame. These were purchased in the crate and assembled by my father, my brother and myself. The 250 I started riding when I was 11 years old , the 400 when i was 14. The Falta was our fathers and and just seems to be my favorite, I guess because our father has passed on and he was the inspiration for us to enjoy these machines. His memories live on in the sound and performance every time I twist the throttle. They are not as original factory as these beautiful bikes are but they are restored and in as pristine showroom quality. Thank you Kaplan America for this awesome presentation of these dinosaurs that will live on forever.

Greetings from the Czech Republic, gentlemen. These motorcycles are a truly iconic affair here. Every boy started on ČZ or JAWA machines. And I'm glad you're doing this good job. We had great factories before the communist came and ruined everything.

Gorgeous pair. Good to see Mikunis in place of the the Jikovs. We called them “Jakov carbonators.” Starting a CZ with a Jikov you flooded it, fired it up, then leaned the bike over on it’s side to clear the carb and not foul. Ah, tradition.

What fun and great memories!! CZ/Jawa, MZ, WSK and probably a few others in the early to mid-1970s could be purchased by mail and the crate delivered right to your front door until Joan Claybrook killed off the two-strokes. A friend of mine did it and we had a terrific time uncrating, assembling and then riding the bike.

Back in the early seventies I was riding my Hodaka at a reserve just outside of Naracoorte, South Australian. Two guys turn up with CZ 250’s, I’d see these in magazines, but to see them I front of me I stood there in awe. Incredible bike!! The two guys worked for the Mines Department and were only here for a short time so I only got to see the bikes 2 or 3 time. Thank you for showing us these incredible bikes.

Ken Jr, I gotta say brotha. I got some respect for you. I can tell your a intelligent and respectful business man. I think most people your age In your situation would act alot differently. I heard you do something alot of people lack to do these days, and that's simply take the time to acknowledge and tell their employees that they are doing a good job. It's crazy how much a little appreciation will go in the work place. Can be the difference of hating or loving going to work. Also love when your dad slips a curse word in there and you dont edit it out. There's always that faint pause afterwords. Keep up the great work gentlemen. Some day I'll make it out there to see the museum.

CZs had many high quality after market parts available so a Jim Hoover Clean Sweep pipe, Mikuni, quick rev Motoplat ignition really woke them up. With lighter parts & a drill press my '74 red frame 250 got down to 204 lbs.. I raced a red tank 250, yellow tank 125 & very trick 400 as well. I loved them. The Honda Elsinore was heavier, slower & didn't turn as well.

Great motorcycles. I had the pleasure of Amatuer MX racing from 1970 to 1974 on a 250 CZ. Great memories. New in 1970 I paid $1,200 for the bike, watched the dealership in San Diego uncrate the bike, and it came with extra primary sprockets and gear puller. I lived a few miles from Carlsbad Raceway in So Cal. Roger DeCoster started out with CZ. Watched him and Joel Roberts in 1968 at a track laid out in the Hollywood Hills through an outdoor old west movie set. Interesting how CZ (a gun maker) got into the motorcycle business. A small builder JaWa was building motorcycles in Prague in the 1920s. Hitler invades Czechoslovakia in the 30s and forces JaWa to become part of CZ and build motorcycles for das fuhrer. Problem was JaWa had been importing motors from Wagner out of England. So with the help of CZ they build a sturdy two cycle motor. After their so called liberation by USSR JaWa forced by communist to remain part of CZ and build motorcycles for Uncle Joe. Somewhere along the line someone figured out if you strip off the street crap and put on knobby tires it was a great off road motorcycle. Communist do what communist do by sucking all the profit out of CZ. When long travel suspension came to market by Yamaha in 1974 there was zero money in JaWa CZ development budget. CZ motorcycles went into the dust bin of history by 1978.

man that brings back memories. I was riding an XR75 and outgrew that so my uncle put me on a 76 CZ250. I hated the way it looked back then because it was like 79 and the Japanese bikes where dominating. I think i was around 12 years old. Had it way north on some trails when the dammed thing pinned wide open. I was never so scared in my life, rode it for miles through the woods until i got back to the lodge and a grown up was able to kill the engine by pulling the plug wire. Turned out the card slide cap had come loose and it was winding out full bore! good times.

I really liked those old CZ's.😉 They didn't rev very high, but the way they were ported, they didn't need to! Lots of bottom end grunt like they displayed here, and yet a ton of midrange and top end horsepower.😁👍 The 250's were torquey, but the 400 was borderline ridiculous.. you could practically climb a wall if you could stay on it!!🤣
