I recently bought a 2003 (8k miles) XB9 Lightning l, almost equally good looking, but with some amazing (imho) modifications. Mine has the 1200cc big bore kit, a different (Remus) exhaust system and custom Buell seat which is supposedly somewhat more comfortable. I'm not a very experienced rider (yet) so not much to compare it with but I really love the bike. It's fast, powerfull yet nimble, has stunning looks. Due to winter I haven't been able to drive as much as I would like to but I really enjoyed the few hours on the Buell a lot. Nice video and great place you got there. Greetings from the Netherlands. 👍

I am a 16 year old bike-fan from Germany and my father has one of those. Randomly i drive this motorcycle today in a park for beginners without a license XD It will be fun, when i have the license and i can drive it with restriction (here, at 18 year old you can drive bikes with max 95 hp reduced to about 45 hp, this is possible due to the fenominal "bluetooth" this bike already has for 2003). I always say it will be also fun, when i have a 1000 cc with 200 hp at 21 years old and then my father is already 69, yes 69 he is probably older than you😂. He says to me that 85 hp are already a really big thing ans i nearly go start flying at like half throttle. But it is also a good thing to have a bit more elderly (though fit) parents:he always tells me how to drive and what dangers could occour. Greetings from Germany again and keep it up with these videos

The sound you say when switching the kill switch is not the fan but the fuel pump priming actually. Do recommend to let it finish priming and let engine light go off before starting bike. It's doing self diagnosing. Also the Ducati Monster came out around 10 years before the Buell XB was introduced in 03 ish. So the monster was before Buell unfortunately. But I own one of these my self and they are awsome bikes. I agree with you 100% there

Yes sir.. the mighty Buell.. I had the x1 lightning. Great bikes. Mine was 1203 Harley motor that ripped when it ran rite, witch wasn't often lol. I rode that bike for 8 years in a row, every day. PS I'm in Colorado and that was no easy feet. I remember leaving home to go to work when it was 3° at my place and -10° at work. Pretty sure that was some kind of record for consecutive days on a Buell x1 lightning. Great video man. Want to see u go 8 years on it, every day, no excuses. Lol...

@@KaplanCycles Anyway.. I loved my Buell. I've never had that much fun in the street. The thing was an absolute blast to ride. My x1 lightning had the 1203 Harley motor that I re worked into a naked short track bike. It had racing exhaust that would blow blue flames when I put race gas in it. That bike and I were literally connected at the hip for 8 solid years, rain, snow, silver dollar sized hail, Sub zero temps, and of course the beautiful sunny days. It was powerful,light,nimble,fast, exciting and would out corner anything on the road or track. Yes sir, I love me a Buell....

I'd love to find a 12S. I had a Ulysses and loved it but it was just too tall and wide for my liking. 3rd gear was great in the mountains. You could get her down to 25mph in a hair pin turn, crack the throttle, lift the front tire exiting the corner, shoot up to 75 and back on the brakes for the next switchback, never touching the clutch or shifter. I'd have kept it but my wife wanted a geezer glide. A twelve S would make an excellent "me too" bike. LOL.

Got my first bike a Honda xr250r year 2000. I want to upgrade shocks to something with more height. Maybe front end of a cr250? What do you recommend sir? I'm 27 blue collar lad and like I said this is my first bike. Any advice I would really appreciate.

OK! State the wheelbase! Front end geometry and trail. Most of the Buell had 51" to 52" of wheelbase. Rake was approx. 21 degrees with 3 .5 " of trail. That made handling kinda" quirky"! The Lightling Long model was much better! Tested by Andrew Trevitt at Sport Rider magazine.

Quirky my ass, turns like it's on rails, dead stable straight line also. The only "quirk" I've found, is tendency to fall into corners of you chop the throttle mid turn(don't..) or to stand up if your breaking mid turn(not drastic). Feels heavier than it is, at sloooww... speeds. Don't we all?

Not sure If you realise the fuell is actualy in the aluminum frame, you keep reffering to the airbox as a tank. Thats one of the thing that makes this bike So special.. i own a xb12 and i can confirm its like Nothing else.. in the market for a good handling fxdx for them longer trips

I listen in background a bad noise at idle. I have the same noise and not all buell has it. I think can be bad valves working, maybe low oil pressure. check it!

Think he said he's either 6'2 or 6'4 in another video I remember him saying once. He never mentioned about the design things buell did when they bought these bikes out though. they had the oil in the swing arm to keep lower center of gravity and possibly fuel as well in a part of the frame but maybe not as I can't remember off hand and the wheel base was made short as well to make them more nimble suposibly and then the brake discs as he did mention that were unconventional and around the outside of wheel rather than centre conventional type ones on most sport bikes. These were all things that they did that were supposed to make them better handling but whether they did or not I can't say as I've never ridden one. Although I new a work colleague who owned one back in the day but he never raved about it to be honest. Only thing I remeber is him telling me about the rear wheel bearing blowing apart when he was riding at about 70mph and he luckily managed to get it pulled over with out dropping it, I think that was the final straw and he got rid of it after that, but that's one person's experience, He said it freaked the shit out of him lol. I was always curious to ride one myself so if you do get one good luck and hope you enjoy it 👍

@@bush600r2 thanks a lot man but probably ill never buy one :/ here is greece they are extremely rare like you can find 3 sellers with the xb12 version and thats all. Next you will never find the parts you need if you need them cause the company is long gone. And unfortunately this bike its too small for me ive seen it upclose i also used motorcycle ergonomic site . even my honda fmx 650 looks big compared to it and its not a big bike in terms of size. So yeah T_T except if i make a tons of money and just buy one for the luls just to have it and ride it once a year haha

Im 6'2" and love my XB12S. Xb12Scg model is way too low tho. Xb12SS models would fit u best if u possibly find one over there. Slightly bigger frame 2" longer wheel base than the xb12s. St Paul harley also sells 1" lowering pegs on their site

Direct cool air to the RADIATOR? Hmm...
@devo3243
@devo3243 3 жыл бұрын
Technically speaking, an oil cooler is a radiator. The liquid inside is irrelevant, although it has just become significantly more common for that liquid to be coolant and not something like engine oil, power steering fluid, transmission oil ect. But the definition is still correct
@gjkMN
@gjkMN 3 жыл бұрын
@@devo3243 I'll grant you the definition. However, the fans on these don't push air to the oil cooler, it draws air from the rear cylinder.
