@@yamaharaptor01ableDamn, you are seriously blessed living only 2 hours away. I would be visiting them, doing volunteer work every week, if I lived as close to them, as you do. I live in New Orleans, Louisiana, and I can't wait to fly up there, ride with on their compound, and do a few days of volunteer work with them. I have a feeling, once I fly up there to meet them all, that I will, at the very least, be flying up there once a year to hang out with them, and do volunteer work with them. The Kaplan Family and their crew are all amazing beautiful human beings, supertalented, patriotic, and humble. I only do business with them, and bought a 1985 Yamaha RZ 350 2 stroke Kenny Roberts Edition Streetbike, and a 2022 GasGas 2 stroke MC 250 Mx Dirtbike off of them. 2 amazing motorcycles. Take Care, Brother.

These poor kids these days will NEVER know/feel the magic in the air that existed in that era. Things just aren't the same now. The yamaha dealer near me is all e bikes and side by sides. No 2 stroke racing quads from 50cc on up. Certainly no atc's. What a shame. My wife wonders why I have soo many 2 stroke bikes/gear/memorabilia squirreled away. Thank GOD I was born when I was!🙏🙌🤘🏻

Everyone has that ONE bike that holds special memories. I was riding a Honda Trail 90 before I learned how to ride my 20" Huffy Renegade bicycle with training wheels! (over 50 years ago) I would sit on the front edge of the seat, in between my brother's legs, steering and operating the throttle, while they would shift and brake. My feet weren't even close to being able to reach the pegs and would place them on the plate above the motor. It didn't take long for me to anticipate and give a quick blip of the throttle in concert with the shifts for smoothness. I can still "see" the rocks to avoid, the upcoming breaks in the washed-out ruts to crossover to the other side of the dirt road...the bike would go anywhere and climb anything in low-range! Those rides were truly memorable and are vividly etched into my memory! ***wanting something different, or possibly to "take me back", I recently came very close to buying a new Honda CT125. I ended up with a 22 KLR650 instead. I'm going out for a quickie right NOW! Eric in NC

Man I love those memories, I too started early on a Z50 Honda at 6 in 72’ and am picking up a 72’ CT90 this week ! I’m so stoked. Be safe on that big KLR, I’d like to find an 85’ XR350 to dual sport but they are rare. Anyway good luck and be safe ✌️🇺🇸

@@deborahchesser7375 Wow...that's awesome, congrats! The Z50 was also the first bike that I ever rode solo on trails...same age, same year. 😉 Yes, the KLR is big and heavy and if I had access to more actual trail riding, I would get something smaller/lighter. For now, it's working out well for my present style of riding, which is mostly local country blacktop with some dirt roads/firelanes.

I love that 250 BSA. It looks like a lot of fun. Back in the 1970's I owned a Honda CB175, or rather it was my father's bike. I used to ride it sometimes. With that over-square motor it would really rev. I would bring it up to 11,500 rpms and shift. It was a screamer!

Also on the CBX two things happened first I had been riding for a few years on dirt bikes so one night I told him I wanted to take him for a ride. Well he screamed like a girl going down the street made me pull over and he took over. Terrific passenger. Also I knew when I was on the back with him if I felt him dropping gears I knew there was a Harley coming up somewhere and I knew that he was going to pull up a wheely and leave them in the dust. Such good memories seeing the bikes leave hope to see some of the finished bike videos. Thank you mark had a hard time letting go of his dad’s collection. Please keep in touch with him.

Hey Ken senior. I'm the guy that told the story about mowing 341 to get my cr80 Honda 1983. From Massachusetts. Love your show. Can't wait for the banshee cr 500 showdown. Definitely birds of a feather flock together. 50 1/2 I got my motorcycle permit I had a Honda cm400. Cherry red. Living in Falmouth working at purity supreme supermarket had to work a little late till almost sundown. With the motorcycle permit you have to be off the roads by dark and not get in trouble until you get your license or it will cause Big Time problems. Well somebody stole riding glasses out of my helmet while my bike was parked out in front of the store so I drove home and turn off God pulled over by a police officer for the show at the end of the road I lived on and he pulled me over for not having eye protection if you can believe it. I told the policeman the story and how I didn't want this to impact my chances of getting my motorcycle license which you could get like a year earlier I must have been 15 because I remember you get it like a year earlier than your driver's license or something. I told him this is a Monday and I didn't have any money on me I went to the store and the cheapest pair of sunglasses was like $10. If you remember things like that were more expensive and I think I made $3.50 an hour is minimum wage. Almost in tears because I'm such a motorcycle why this is going to mess up my chances of getting my motorcycle. That heartless bastard still wrote me a ticket. $25 . When I went for my license took the driver's test in the RMV parking lot I was worried that that would come up. But the state trooper who was a motorcycle trooper. He said I let that slide because that's the same thing has happened to me except I didn't get a ticket they actually stole my glasses off of my police Harley-Davidson one time . And said that that Falmouth police couldn't even ride a bicycle that's why I gave you ticket. So they're not all heartless. ❤😂😂😂😂

Yes Ken ...kids today have no clue what it was to actually have some respect and also the fun of Dads in the 70s 80s when we got a beer one mind you and really tasted awful but was w DAD. So I can say the almost exact story you shared about yours when caught on your bike w no glasses...that's just classic... I have raised my son's w the same ideals, and to enjoy being outside riding wheelies and just being a kid... What a haul of bikes I've been awaiting the videos like Xmas morning or around here like "kennywood day" that was a big thing here in suburbs of Pittsburgh PA. Today we goto the RC race track. To run monster trucks we fly planes RC as well. But motorized ALWAYS!!!.. love your content and your style, when Blessed w so much... also much is required! He rode from Oklahoma city to Sturgis 2 times in its early life and hauled it there 3 times other than that. It's been on a hard tail chopped with aftermarket rake on front end. And he got old and traded an old buddy out of a springer frame to make it more comfy for his old ass. He's pushing 70 and still rides but has a few other bikes now! When ur old man was riding when ur born you're gonna fall in love too. At least my moto experience tells me so. I've got 3 bikes and just getting goin in the hobby for myself

Ken I hope you noticed the food pegs on the 350 big wheel. Mark had just bought this bike when I first met him and we went to the beach at Pismo. I got tired of clenching my thighs against the seat so when we got back to town mark’s dad helped drill the holes for the foot pegs. After that we spent hours riding together. But the best was out on the hard wet sand he could put the front tire in one spot and with me on the back he could spin doughnuts about 20 to 30 times with me and that front tire never moved out of the original spot.
