Some East German service too, you say. Very cool! There's something special and buttery about a well-used Mauser action. And yeah, my wallet knows to be nervous when going into the local militaria shop with no expectations...

Now that’s a damn smooth 98. I have a bnz 41 Kriegsmarine contract (bolt mismatch, bolt matches itself) and while it is smooth, it’s nowhere near that Jeem. Keep that thing forever man it’s sick!

That is super cool. Might want to secure that tang crack though if you haven't already! I think you did well on the price for sure. I got a RC K98 from Wideners back around 2014 for 495 and was fine with that price at the time so 550 for this definitely isn't bad. I wish I had bought several of those at the time but I was broke!

Does your stock have a crack running behind the tang? I busted mine but fixed it myself.

gasp! you are right! Pretty common for 98s to have cracks right there, thankfully upon further inspection its pretty shallow. The gun isnt a shooter (other than for the video) so im not worried about it getting worse.

@@boltforward3611 i used titebond 3 on the crack and acraglas to bed the area. I forgot to put the steel pillar in when i switched stocks so it totally blew it out. Had some nasty recoil bolt setback too. Shimmed it up with some aluminum and acraglas and its been holding strong since. Can see my amatuer repair work though
