the only group that could fill an entire stadium in a foreign country without having any japanese member and without being extremely popular in south korea boa paved the way for kpop artists to promote in japan and kara took the best advantage of that! they became legendary and lasted long because of their japanese fandom

In this they are singing in japanese. However the original is korean. But they only have music video for the japanese version as mister was not the title song even though how iconic it turned out to be.

この頃のKPOP本当素晴らしいよね。今のKPOPグループも大好きなのたくさんあるけどこの頃の方が日本語バージョンだけ出したりして日本のファンに向けてる感じが凄いしたし、ダンスも歌も今見ても全く古く感じないし大好き。 KARA、少女時代、東方神起、BoAは私の中で青春なので動画見てると泣きそうになる。

I've always thought that one of the main factors why KARA succeeded so quickly in Japan was because pretty much all of the members look Japanese already, especially here in their debut where they kept a natural hair color along with matching (but not crazy) outfits. That, and of course KARA's Japanese was very good at debut and improving year by year. Many other Korean groups have debuted in Japan but they still retained the "K-Pop style" with crazy colored hair and a generally Korean appearance that many Japanese people probably weren't ready to open up to. When they see a group like KARA debut in their country like this, they get a sense of familiarity and open up and become fans that much quicker. I feel like all of the other entertainment companies should take a page from DSP's book on debuting in Japan (even though I'm still upset that Puretty wasn't promoted enough) But what do I know? LOL I've just always wanted to share this thought

+ARMOR15 I agree with you. Actually, I came here just to refresh my ears after my favourite group popped out another Japanese MV with very awkward sounding japanese.. I never once thought Kara's japanese here sounded unnatural. I think the level of skill in the language plays a huge part in the success of the song itself (so my belief is that companies need to spend more time training the groups in the language and not just hastily pop out their albums in Japan..). It should sound almost native to japanese listeners or else it just sounds awkward and uncool. I actually prefer the japanese version of Mister to the Korean one. It's so great :D

This is the first Kara song I ever heard when I first got into K-Pop. I loved the choreography for this track & the chorus was so catchy & memorable. I was never a huge Kara fan but I did always love Mr., Jumping & Lupin! Members Nicole & Hara always stood out to me & whenever Kara would come up, I would always be able to recall their names. So sorry to hear about the passing of Goo Hara today... she always had such a beautiful smile. After looking into it, I see that she's been struggling for a while. She attempted suicide earlier this year & was already releasing new singles & setting to go on tour... I truly wish the K-Pop (& J-Pop) industry would make their idols mental health a priority. So many great stars are falling victim to their own pain, caused by the toxic industry & netizens (&, in Hara's case, relationship). I pray for any idols who are going through similar pain & hope fatalities like this can be avoided in the future. RIP Hara. You will be missed! ❤

Same here. I got into Kpop in 2007. I got out of my constant kpop following (reading blogs, news, listening to all new releases) around 2013 because of how fucked up the industry can be and how so many groups were coming out. I hope taeyeon doesn’t do anything (she has an amazing album out), she has a history of depression too supposedly

+James Bourne Probably because the recruiters only pick up the ones most attractive since that will sell to the public the most. Of course talent is a part of it but if it's a choice between a very talented girl without looks or a moderately talented girl with very good looks the latter is most likely to be chosen. Besides, when you have a large group of girls all doing the same dancing I'm pretty sure it's not going to be a competition of who's the most talented. Those who want to stand out will go solo or something. That is how I see it.

Something's terribly wrong in Korean media and efforts to curb cyber bullying have been really inadequate. This has to stop. Korean celebrities provide entertainment, happiness and healing to the fans, why can't we return the same to them? Too much hate has led these precious people lose grip because they couldn't even hold up with all the trash and shit Knetizens have to shove in their faces. Please, please, please, this has to stop. Gone too soon. RIP Goo Hara. :'(

@@03chrisv Hara died not because of bullying. She killed herself. One reason was because of her ex boyfriends threat that their sex video will go online. She was depressed and tried to killed herself but survived. She then tried again after news of her friend Sulli's death and succeeded.
