We took a risk and booked an entire "cheap" private island in the Philippines with VERY little information available on the internet...Do you think it was a hidden gem?!
Here's the link to book the island through Airbnb - www.airbnb.com/associates/217...

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! So we extended our 1 year trip to now FOUR years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

Hey y'all! We are currently self-quarantining in our hometown in Tennessee (wishing we were still isolated on this island 😉). Unfortunately, this is our last vlog from paradise before COVID-19 turned our worlds upside-down. Hopefully we can all travel again soon. In the meantime, follow us on Instagram to get real-time updates and behind the scenes stories: instagram.com/karaandnate/ Hope y'all are staying happy, healthy, and home ❤

What a beautiful way if that was your last stop. Nate ? you made the right decision it was a hidden Gem. Just when I thought it was not going to get any better, that one was absolutely gorgeous and I mean stunning and I mean absolutely beautiful Clear Blue Waters. You lucked out. And now we are all trapped. It'll be good for you guys to get rested up and have some kind of normalcy even though things are the way they are. No rushing to airport. No rushing for this that or the other. I'm glad you're safe with your family with plenty of coffee and toilet paper. I hope there are doing well and continue to do so God bless and we will see you when we see you. It's been fun. God bless.

I love pansit, adobo, and I loved lumpia the best. Can't forget SanMiguel beer. It's cool that you got to experience such a beautiful country. Sorry that it got cut short, unfortunately. I was there between 1982 to 1984 doing cruises on the USS Enterprise. Someone needs to invite you on a tiger cruise on a carrier. You would enjoy flight ops as much as you enjoyed the INDY 500.

My husband and I are also avid travelers. we were also just in Coron before the lockdown. Just want to say 1) thanks for sharing the beauty of the Philippines 2) thanks for appreciating the cooking and wanting to learn more about the people and the places you are visiting (food is the heart of the Filipinos) 3) for taking challenges during traveling in stride and appreciating the gift of being able to do what you guys do! I am one that has always been hesitant to international travel just purely out of fear of being in a different country, the language barrier, and just the fear of being manipulated. Yalls videos have helped so much with that and I have started a bucket list for places I want to travel to and explore internationally! Also, the idea of staying in places that are shared or guest houses on someone else’s property has become less scary since watching y’all also. Not only do y’all have awesome experiences in beautiful places but I always make sure to really listen and pay attention to yalls surroundings in the cities and airports and how y’all travel and I’ve noticed that there is usually always someone that speaks some sort of English, there’s google translator, and when you visit internationally being around people isn’t really a huge concern if you’re focused on exploring. I would looove to visit this island just because of yalls whole experience with the host and getting there and all of it. I hope that I’m just not seeing the bad parts or something but from yalls personal experience, I feel like only a handful of bad or scary things have happened in yalls story. Y’all definitely have a way of making one question their own ignorant thoughts without even trying. Because why not say yes to travel if you can? Even if you’re not living on the road.

@TravelHackingTeachers we have 3 island groups in Ph. The northern part is Luzon and 1 of the best there is Palawan the place Kara and Nate visited. The middle island is Visayas best for Boracay island. The southern part is Mindanao where you can find Siargao island. As for food, a must try Filipino dishes are lechon best in Cebu, adobo, sisig, kare kare and sea foods also our halo-halo. All these you can ask your host where you will be staying to cook for you or find them anywhere here.

claire Don’t read my comments then? As you point out yourself, my comment makes it “seem” that way. You’re making assumptions based on one comment. All I’m saying is that having an anxiety attack because something does not happen to someone you don’t actually know seems to be a stretch. I’m not trying to be “better” than anyone, I just happen to think that one should not experience anxiety because nothing happens to someone else’s phone. I’m sorry it bothers you enough to tell me I “seem” to be something you totally assume. Also, the way you confuse whose and who’s; and then and than makes me cringe.
