Please be open to different ideas people. Tell Machida that karate techniques and style doesn’t work in mma. It’s not a matter of “karate is better” but an idea of karate, taekwondo, judo, boxing, Muay Thai, kung fu, wrestling, etc all have things to offer. It’s a matter of seeing what works for you and what you can utilize from other styles.

the blitz is very useful in bridging the gap, fast and explosive with body weight,it gets you inside to deliver , hooks , uppercuts ect

This cross foot can be aplyed and effective, but i think there are other alternatives of Footwork (Ashi Sabaki or Unsoku in japanese) to close the distance with the Jab and Cross punches (Kizame Tzuki and Gyaku Tzuki in japanese), Like Tsunagi Ashi

Dude, trust me, this might look good, but it's arse, mate. NEVER cross your legs when stpping forward for a punch and put your thumb in the right place when making a fist.

So you're implying that you will easily nullify this technique? Don't be arrogant, this technique has been used by few professional mma fighters with karate background, sometimes it works but it is susceptible for takedowns and leg kicks. The idea is to MIX it with your arsenal, if it doesn't work for you then don't use it.

low kicks?
@warriorcollective

As Marcus quite rightly states within this video, there are aspects of this movement that make it susceptible to low kicks and takedowns. This where the adaption comes in and also where it needs to be applied with correct timing in the right context. Marcus is a real talent. I hope you enjoyed this video as much as I enjoyed making it!!

Never should be done unconsciously. It can be done with a setup in mind and that's exactly what he's doing.

Kevin Roquemore it’s totally wrong how he’s blitzing,never cross feet and doing more off back leg to slow,you mainly explode off front leg it’s quicker,and that’s how MVP and Raymond Daniels do it that’s why they land all the time because it’s explosive and fast,and point style does work in real fighting to wonderboy does it in Mma and MVP does,Raymond Damion glory bellator,

For the beginner no but you are long enough in martial arts yes. He has very good at not losing balance. I have seen a lot in professional fights.

That is of course a very solid rule and one that a lot of strikers will stick to rigidly. However, within the context of mat fighting points systems, it definitely has its place for fast entries to score. As Marcus points out in this video, this needs to be adapted for use in other combat sports. Marcus is truly exceptional. I hope you enjoyed this video and the rest of the channel regardless.

@@jamesmiles5662 Totally wrong? He's a multiple time world champion Karateka and pro MMA fighter. He's not gonna sell you bullshit. Just because his technique is different than the others doesn't make it totally wrong. Get over yourself.

I am sorry you have not found this video to your taste. I only feature the very best instructors so I can assure you that Marcus and Thomas are both truly exceptional martial artists. Marcus is a multiple time world freestyle karate champion and one of the most gifted young athletes I have had the pleasure to train with. I always understand though that each video on the Warrior Collective is not going to be everyone's cup of tea so to speak. I hope you find something else on here that works for you more.

@@warriorcollective It's an interesting video. His technique around 4:15 is more inline with what I've learned in Muay Thai / MMA. It's just jarring to see him cross step and blitz somewhat wildly in the first half.
