That discipline is called Chi Sao (sticky hands) and is a training discipline within Wing Chun that Bruce Lee studied in China with Ip Man, and is 75% of Jet Kune do. Kimura, despite coming from karate, had already studied some Chi Sao because he defends himself quite well.

This is totally false! Taky Kimura was a student of Bruce Lee's Jun Fan Gung Fu as well as a variation of Wing Chun. Taky had a bit of judo experience before meeting Bruce and was NEVER a karate practitioner, let alone a grandmaster. The video footage here is from a demonstration they performed at the tournament. Notice that both Lee and Kimura are both performing chi-sao from Wing Chun. This doesn't take away from the fact that Bruce Lee was an amazing martial artist.

@@elvisrealking 'no style' meant he really didn't know any style, and then preached a combination of styles. Which he didn't know. And mixing styles has actually been done for thousands of years before him, and in his time by others. He just hilariously didn't know that, nor about the mixed martial artists of his day, and the styles that were being practiced in his day and before that that are literally mixed martial arts. You thinking a noob saying nonsense things is genius only proves you're a noob that believes in nonsense. Lee's only credit is that he popularised martial arts to the masses a little faster than it was already happening. That being said he was very far from the best promotor of it because of what I just told you. If he had been interested in really becoming a great martial artist instead of a narcissist, he would have gone through the motions of actually attaining a decent level in at least 1 full contact martial art. Instead he just stuck to some basic techniques and no experience and claimed he was a great fighter just because he made martial arts movies (with unrealistic choreography). Mike Tyson didn't know Bruce Lee, and it's insane to even compare the two on any level. MikeTyson is arguably one of the greatest heavyweight fighters ever. Lee was a moviemaker and a 5'5, 135 pound backyard martial artist. All this does is expose your delusion and complete ignorance.

This is such a great & tremendous honor to both Bruce & Kimura….the nice things that he said about Bruce is amazing. And then Bruce actually tries it blind, that’s hilarious man. This is still two Schools working together in our Eternal Universal Defense too, always, not contention nor competitiveness between Schools. Bruce’s technique here shows that he is totally familiar with the human body, even if he is blind..he can see his opponent’s body in his mind, & sense his position even with no visual sight. This is training for combat with a human, but Master Bruce is also likewise trained well for all types of life forms too, able to sense their position & see them in his mind, enough to successfully defend, always. Many Schools if not all Schools of martial arts train for the potential of having to enter combat blind, & with various types of sensory & other physical challenges to face..& overcome, always. Lots of love & respect shown here, good job!❤️🌈📀🔒🔐

Beating your opponent when you're blindfolded shows how great Bruce Lee was!!!. A normal martial arts expert won't be able to do much after being blindfolded.

It was basically chorography dude was a student of Lee he's a martial artist sure as well as an actor. Hell there's been blind wrestlers that placed in state at HS level because there has to be constant contact.

chi sao - especially as taught by Bruce - relies on sensitivity in the arms - a fighter doesn't want to rely on his eyes which will slow him down - so students will often close their eyes when practicing chi sao - in order to tune into the sensations

whoever wrote the narration doesn't know anything about wing chun or bruce's styles - bruce and his student taky kimura are practicing chi sao - with bruce in a blindfold - to show he can sense the relative positions of their arms - and then either strike or divert a strike - all without seeing

Blindfolds are for the ones who are feeling the energy and hearing the opponent, not for seeing. This will give them the edge over people who rely on seeing instead of feeling the energy of their opponent.

This is a pleasant change of tone. The Japanese are a very proud group yet here is a Grandmaster, humbling himself. Bruce was like, “let’s see if that’s true.” And then the Grandmaster lost and was willing to be a student again. It’s like everyone was just having fun and no hard feelings throughout. Nice vid.
