Daniel actually manages to throw Mike to the ground, which I think is a deliberate reference to what happens in the tournament, with Daniel throwing Mike and then striking him to get the winning point, but in this scene, unlike the bonsai store fight and the tournament, I think Mike is going easy on Daniel, like he's under instructions from Silver to overpower him and put him in need of being rescued but to not actually hurt him, just shake him up and scare him, so he's grateful to Silver for saving him

Probably Daniel's best performance against Mike, pre-tournament. I get that they wanted to up the stakes, and I'm not as closed off as some to the thought that Daniel went from state level, to national, to international here with Mike, but it still felt like we'd hit gimmick/pastiche levels, with a guy who's just a plain old wall to him, until the last part. It might've been better if they'd had one less fight and instead just let Mike's sheer presence tower over Daniel for most of the movie, instead of reiterating the same thing into the ground.

Glad Mike Barnes returned to Cobra Kai. Now as adults, Chozen is the strongest, most skilled and experienced martial arts fighter, but Mike held his own, put up a good fight and stunned Chozen with a punch before Daniel stopped the fight. Had it went all the way Chozen would've won but it was evenly matched. As teenagers, Mike was Daniel's strongest and most skilled opponent with Chozen a close second. Chozen was technically trained for longer, having been trained in Miyagi-Doh karate by his uncle Sato since Chozen learned to walk, his late uncle's number one student and a combat instructor for U.S. military police that took down four soldiers at once hand to hand. But Chozen vs Daniel was a bare knuckle street fight to the death and it was a surprisingly evenly matched fight with Daniel narrowly beating Chozen using Miyagi's drum technique. But Daniel was cornered, fighting for his life and to protect Kumiko. Mike effortlessly mopped the floor with Daniel in three street fights outside of the ring and destroyed Daniel the entire tournament until Daniel overcame his fear of Mike with Mr. Miyagi's guidance and speech about never losing to fear, using Miyagi's kata to win his final winning point. Daniel in Karate Kid 3 was chubby, out of shape, out of practice except for the kata and broken by Terry Silver's psychological games, sending Mike and his goons after Daniel repeatedly, acting as Daniel's friend and mentor, teaching Daniel brutality and aggression, making Daniel injure himself, believe he was invincible and once Silver revealed his true agenda Daniel was paralyzed by fear. Had Daniel been skinny, athletic, training hard everyday as he was in part 2 and if not for Silver's mind games Daniel would've given Mike a much tougher fight and it would've been evenly matched but Mike still would've won a street fight without rules. Barnes was stronger, more aggressive, more skilled and experienced. Now as adults, however, all of the above have advanced. Daniel even beat Terry Silver recently.
