The rain has been non stop since the start of March here so we're struggling to keep the weanlings out. I'm supplementing them with silage and nuts every day.
The old cow is ready to calves so trying to tidy her up before the calf arrives. Spoiler alert: I had to get the scissor to her udder in the end 😅

Awesome video. Try a plastic shopping bag on the end of your stick for moving your animals. And your head crush would be better/safer if the animals were standing in a walk way. About 800mm width and a little longer than the animal. It would stop the animals from wiggling around. Clippers are the best option we trim around 400 animals 3 times per year.

I’d love to have a quad myself, but can’t justify it just for play. You get a lot of work out of yours. Very handy around the farm. It’s nice to see you and your dad working together, even if you didn’t get done what you want to. The candleing is an interesting idea and may have worked on a less temperamental cow. You gave it your best shot though.

Hi Karen, i had a similar job to do a few weeks ago, i just pulled the dirty hair off, no problem as the hair is soft, it comes away fairly easy, cow didnt take any notice, the odd kick out, just to go away, other times i do it when the calf is latching on
