I am an Italian woman. I know this place very well. My in-laws live in Al Rahim square not far from Karimabad. I never go alone in the streets of Karachi. I always wear European cloths and people stare at me but everybody is always respectful. I never get sick with the street food. I really enjoy it and fruits, particularly mangoes are amazing. Other family members live in other very rich areas in Karachi, like Defense or Clifton with big malls and beautiful restaurants. Please do not judge an entire population on base of one video. Pakistan has a wonderful and good hearted population welcoming you and very friendly. Specially in the North regions of Gilgit Baltistan (my in-laws are from Hunza )in the Himalayas you will see the most spectacular panoramas on earth with mountains more than 7000 m high. Pakistan is definitively a country you need to visit. You will never regret.

The few women I could see looks so colorful in their black attire from the very top of the head to the heels, just like Angels of Death and Misery. Streets so clean, even Japan would envy them. I enjoy these sorts of videos because it's a really clear glimpse into regular day to day life... but one thing that always cracks me up about street videos basically anywhere outside of America or Europe is just how everyone stares endlessly at the cameraman as if there's a 20 foot tall monster walking around.

Peoples are not showing any interest neither seeing each other nor purchase of materials like vegetables and fruits etc. Keeping silent from every nook and corner no smiling face look by every one while seeing each one of them. Otherwise the market road is narrow but kept neat and clean in all places. Only motor bikes cycles and small caes are allowed to go on the road very slowly. Everything is available like Ready made garments shop and vegetables fruits are selling in a moving bicycle cart. Very neat and clean shown on the road like a commissary bazaar. I was in Rawalpindi for one month. In public places people moved as yhey were in fear to be watched and judged by the others, no funny gags, no any free laughing. The rare women crossing the streets were looking at me with a sort of hatred i could not understand, and even if i was dressing properly with respect I could not find a way to talk with a woman. This people are strictly closed inside their relatives groups, they don't open the door of their home to strangers, to the point that they get married between cousins. In the evening we could see groups of men walking around dressed and painted like women, it seemed to be normal. Food was good, but tap water was dirty even in luxury hotels. Over the mountains people are different, we succeeded in getting some spontaneous smile...

Thank you for showing us a world that we'll probably never get to visit. I feel like I've just been there with you! I pity the people who can't just enjoy seeing another culture, without having to make the pseudo complimentary comments, and the snark. After all, "there, but for the grace of God...". Many of the snarky comments are probably coming from people living in countries that are on the brink, and will probably be living like this in the not too distant future.
