It was 1998 and I was 13 when I saw Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. I watched it bc of Marilyn, but discovered Jane and immediately, I was like "Marilyn Who??" Dont get me wrong...both women were stunning, but it was something about Jane that was unapologetically beautiful. She wasnt glamorous like Marilyn. She was...whats the word? I cant even think of the word, but she was striking. I became a fan after that movie!

I became more of a fan of Jane Russell's as I grew older. Like many folks in my generation, I mostly knew her from the Playtex commercials at first. She was very lucky to have had a solid family background (unlike Marilyn, who was shuttled around in the foster home system). The thing I most like about Jane Russell is that she never took herself or her image seriously. When I learned about the Howard Hughes bra, the Playtex commercials became hilarious (as they must've been to my mother's and grandmother's generations).

15:29 - they look the same height but Jane appears taller because she has a smaller head - small head makes you look taller and big head makes you look shorter than you really are. I have a little head 😂😂 She had to wonder about Marylin after she died, since she didn’t (appear to) convert her to a Christian. Honestly it probably haunted her. It would haunt me, and does for others. I love her easy approach to life to stay relaxed and not appear stressed. And I agree that everyone had their own look - we need to get back to that and not trying to be a cookie cutter doll.

Crazy story. Doyle Peoples, Jane’s BIL, was my dad’s best friend. My dad use to go to their home in Porter, TX, to play cards. I went with him once and Doyle was complaining about Jane Russell drinking all their tequila. She would go stay with them to get away from Hollywood. I was like, “Whuuuu?!” When they weren’t looking, I drank out of the bottle Jane did bc I thought it was cool! 😂 I also wrestled a raccoon that night! I realized that my dad had invited me so that I could keep their pet raccoon occupied! 😂

I didn’t like how Joan Rivers kept prodding Jane Russell for intimate details about her life. If you look closely, she was clearly uncomfortable with the line of questioning. I think this may be one of the factors why Joan Rivers talk show career didn’t last long.

I found out that one video I saw when the Lord took down people who mock him. Marilyn was one of them. I was shocked. She said," I don't need Jesus. I said what??? to myself. Then it said on the video. She died 2 days later.

How FABULOUS! Jane was the epitome of class and glamour. Her devotion to God was the best thing. The fact that she wasn’t religious and believed that her faith was a way of life(agreed). I wasn’t as familiar with her before viewing this. I knew of the name, but not the life. She may now become one of my favorite Old Hollywood actresses💐🌸🌺🌹🌷
