This reminds me of a story I once heard about a man stuck out at sea. A boat came by and asked if he needed help and he said “no thank you god will save me.” And the boat passed. Another boat comes asks of he needs help and he has the same response. A third boat comes by his response is unchanging. Eventually the man drowns and dies and when gets to heaven he asks God “why didn’t you save me?” And God says “I sent you three boats.” God wants us to have faith but he also gave us brains with which to think and reason and choose what is best for us. Refusing the miracles of modern medicine is not an act of faith it is deliberately letting yourself drown.

gross that he would lie to her about a vasectomy. I would have divorced him SO fast. Also, the argument about trusting God to give you right amount of kids has always seemed deluded to me. God gave us scientists who created birth control, and gave me the sense to use it.
@alexwyatt2911

I agree with you 100% about all your points. First, lying about contraception is such an enormous betrayal. It doesn’t matter the gender or person, lying about contraception of any form is a violation. The sex is no longer consensual at that point. And the consequences are life-altering, especially for a person who has such poor health. I would never be able to forgive my spouse for that kind of lie and betrayal. He was risking her life. Second, it’s always been bizarre to me when Christians refuse medical intervention because they’re going to “trust God’s plan.” To me, it’s so arrogant for them to assume that medical intervention isn’t part of “God’s plan.”

husbands forcing their wives to carry a pregnancy and give birth multiple times is so gross. (don’t read if you don’t want to hear about child death) this happened in like the 2000s with a woman who probably struggled with schizophrenia or some sort of psychotic disorder. her husband forced her to get off her meds to have more kids and she ended up killing them in a psychotic episode when he left for work one day. i don’t remember the woman’s name but it was truly heartbreaking for both her and the children because it could’ve 100% been prevented

I...there are no words. How did she go from not really wanting kids, to insisting on having so many to point of risking her life? Something just feels so wrong here. I'm trying not to be judgmental, but it's really difficult when they just seem so unconcerned about what having ten kids is doing to them physically, emotionally, financially, and are cavalier about being able to adequately and intimately parent that many children. I don't know why they think they're trusting God with this. Did He not bless us with common sense? Everything about this just seems so selfish to me.

I’m only 20 minutes in but worries me most about this is that there isn’t enough healing between pregnancies if you’re having a kid almost every year. This leaves her so much more susceptible to long term health complications, especially when she was already having problems early on, that her husband would never understand because he doesn’t have to go through any of that. Her husband making this decision while it’s physically impacting Karissa and him LYING to her about the vasectomy is not only insensitive but also abusive in my opinion

My win for the week is that we finally got our health insurance in order which couldn’t have come any sooner considering I’m 37 weeks pregnant with our second child. Also, I cannot imagine having so many children especially as someone who has high risk pregnancies. It jeopardizes my health and I have to be extremely careful to keep my babies healthy during my pregnancies. I think that this is a great conversation to have that a lot of parents and potential parents don't realize. Time, attention, support, and love is so crucial for each one of your kids to have in their early developmental years and if a child does not have enough of this in their early years, it can impact them lifelong. Also yes, it sickens me when parents let the older siblings take on the parent role, which results in them losing their crucial childhood. I don't come from a big family but I come from a lower income family. Both my parents had to spend their time slaving away to make ends meet (understandable), which resulted in us becoming neglected and not receiving a lot of attention and support that we needed plus they were already really strict parents so I personally also felt unloved and like a burden. This also resulted in my older siblings taking care of me and my older sister taking the overall parent role. She expressed to me many times once we were older how she felt exhausted and that there was too much pressure on her shoulders and that she couldn't finish out her childhood. It broke my heart to hear that but at the same time, I really appreciated what she's done for me, growing up. This is why it's an issue for having so many students within 1 class with 1 teacher because not every student gets the help and attention that they need. This also resulted in kids who are special needs that don't know that they are special needs in being neglected and called "dumb" or "lazy" just for them being themselves. I'm speaking from experience and didn't realize that part of myself until I got older

My biggest confusion about people who (like this family) focus so literally and fully on a specific line of the bible is that they are not following all the other parts. Why is "be fruitful and multiply" the thing that is important, but not laws against wearing different fabrics, working on Sunday, following specific dietary restrictions, forgiving debt, taking care of the poor and imprisoned, loving each other, or treating your slaves in specific ways? There are nearly a million words in the bible - why are those four words not only the ones that are most important but that are so important that these families keep going when they know it has a higher chance of ending in the death of one of the parents?
@MindytheQuick
@MindytheQuick Жыл бұрын
Thank you B for coming to these videos doing your best to not judge another's choices. The ironic thing about those in deeply fundamental/evangelical circles is the mockery of non-judgment that the "world" has, while they can't tolerate anyone judging their own judginess. I come from an evangelical background myself, and have always felt torn. I love Jesus very much, but I never felt close to him the way I thought I should. Only lately has that happened in spite of my upbringing, not because of it. Many in this certain culture have elevated Marriage and Babies (and what happens between the two) as almost bizarre idols. We will allow (and even encourage) a spouse to stay in abusive relationships because "Marriage". We keep having children (while refusing to prevent it) because "Babies". Not that God doesn't value those things, but when protecting the institution becomes more vital than protecting a spouse's safety, or protecting a child's need for an available, attached, and attuned parent, we've lost the whole point. And I think that's something very insidious that I didn't catch until I was an adult: the god that is sometimes preached about is not an attached, attuned, or safe Being. So it follows that attachment and relational safety isn't a priority in relationships in that world. I went through two psychiatric hospitalizations and easily could have had more. I only have one child. I can't imagine what would have happened if I'd said "let's leave it up to God". I'm not sure I'd be alive. I've only just begun to reattach to my precious child who had to live through a mom who wasn't emotionally available consistently. I heard someone once say God gave humanity the job of subduing the earth, which means managing resources. It would be ridiculous to not manage land or animals well because "God will provide". In the Bible he literally gave us that job. It's ok to "manage the resource" of having children (pardon if that sounds crude).

Two houses and two cars? Privilege. Something so very many people do not have regardless of the amount of faith they have in Christ. In my opinion, there's very real danger in what I hear so many "christian influencers" espousing on social media. To feed the hungry is a great and grave responsibility, not to be taken lightly or served up haphazardly or with pride. Most influencers I've listened to appear to subscribe to a belief in Biblical inerrancy, but define chapter and verse through the lens of their own opinions. If the water we offer is poluted and the food spoiled, how have we helped the thirsty and hungry among us? And what will we say as we each stand before God in the last day?

_I am a Christian and I'm not a mother_ In my personal opinion it sounds like a great way for the devil to guarantee death, family disfunction and poverty for a lot of families. She almost K.O. trying to have kids. If she passed away would that have been a win for God? Why is the near death experience not a sign from God? It's giving greedy and selfish on both their ends.

I always thought it’s very interesting some people have such an extreme view on birth control, saying leave it up to god & any sort of birth control method is “going against god.” They only apply that to pregnancy & nothing else though. Why not leave everything up to god then? Why wear a seatbelt ever or take any sort of medications or chemotherapy or any kind of safety precaution. Why are those things not against god’s will, but birth control or “pulling out” is?

This is such a reckless viewpoint. Having a bunch of kids that aren’t wanted and people can’t afford, and doesn’t have time it capability to raise well will lead to a lot of dysfunctional people. And more overpopulation, homelessness etc.

As south asian both my parents had large families mother has 4 other siblings while father has 5 other siblings. My mother's oldest sister was never went to school to take care of siblings. My grandmother is so evil to do that to her. When she left after marriage at 19 second sister took the role. My father's family has not done things that extremely still My father's sister was parentified to extent and my father who got government job was expected to fund everything to his family money wise. His mother never expected him to marry and his own kids but be single to fund money forever. And in both families I'm not sure parents did bare minimum for atleast one kid 😅. They very happy go lucky parents. Also at the time birth control is simply available so maybe they didn't even want the kids. So willfully ignoring birth control is so freaking stupid it just not affect them it affects kids directly and society too

They make the big deal about trusting God for family size, despite the additional dangers. Yet can't trust God to protect these children in regular school, so have to home school to personally protect them (this version of home schooling to avoid mixing with outsiders leaves young adults without the social comprehension to cope with the wider world). I find the combination of home church as well as home school ringing alarm bells. Does it show that they are not willing to explore Biblical matters with other believers but see themselves as the only interpretation they will accept? So he stopped looking at the figures, and decided that coping was God's provision? Could it be due to her carefully budgetting over every meal? Or relying on gifts from wider family and friends?

For example, the reason things have gotten easier for them is they are using their older children as help mates and buddies. I don't like that she has so many health problems. I dont want to be disrespectful however, there is so much he said that was sooff-putting and just plain wrong. I have studied the quiverful religion and they are major doctrinal issues. You made a great point. Regardless of agreeing with the idea of family planning, there does need to Be an emphasis on taking care of the children you do have. To me It seems they are more concerned about continually reproducing, than being satisfied with each child and the life they have. Idk I could never have more than maybe 3 children so It just seems like such a massive physical, spiritual, emotional, and financial undertaking they are going through all through the guise of their beliefs

Wow! I HOPE the best for their children, but that's a very irresponsible stance. If he wants to be transparent about their birth control (or lack thereof), then I think they should be transparent about where that money is coming from that keeps their children fed. Money comes from people, not directly from God. So it's not a mystery. Other households are financing their household, which means that in the big picture, EVERYONE could not afford to "trust god with their family size". If they did so, whose household would support all of them? In addition, they didn't "trust God" to let her die or to miraculously give her the D&C that she desperately needed to save her life. They sought medical attention, but have continued to ignore all medical advice. I can't even!

It's great that this works for them but not every family have the able to be so careless. I have two siblings, I'm the youngest. My parents didn't use birth control at the beginning of their marriage and quickly had 3 kid close in age. We struggled. Sometimes we didn't have food. My parents were stress and sometimes couldn't pay our bills in order to get food on the table. We when to school at the age of 3 so we could get free food. Both my parents are fixed because they couldnt provid for the 3 they had. This come off tone deaf.

Just wanna say it's not birth control or bust... I am so sick of people (especially judgmental Christians) having this attitude. There are other methods for preventing pregnancy that do not involve any medication or medical procedures, natural family planning works great if done correctly and carefully. I hate how she perpetuates the idea that birth control is sin and therefore she just had to keep getting pregnant. It's not a sin, and even if it was it's not the only option. She is being willfully ignorant, a basic search before my wedding taught me that there are lots of other methods to prevent pregnancy. OK, getting off my soapbox now.

Birth control is an act of worship in my eyes, for my situation. My parents were emotionally neglectful because they spent every moment working to give the bare necessities for kids they didn't plan for (or want). We didn't have resources for diagnoses and all my siblings and parents struggle with depression, largely stemming from problems that money could fix. I don't want the same thing for kids I have. I want the resources, knowledge, and healing to give them a better life than I have had, because they will be God's children and deserve to have a parent who can actually demonstrate God's emotional love to them, instead of feeling they are a burden for existing or don't matter at all. Proverbs 24:3-7 and other verses discuss planning for the future and being wise. It is NOT wise for everyone in every situation to constantly be pumping out kids. The people I know who do that are all the types to post about how amazing their life is online, and then in person they are whining about every aspect of their life, so it's hard to trust that their viewpoint as it is often disingenuous. Having kids is a huge responsibility, parenting shouldn't be outsourced to older kids either. EDIT: also I believe in an all-powerful God. people get pregnant on birth control all the time. If it is His will, no way a rubber is gonna prevent that 😂

As for the 796,000 Instagram followers and only 5,000 on KZfaq : she most likely bought followers on IG. It’s something alot of influencers do . Another way that you can tell that she most likely bought her IG followers is the number of likes on her posts are way too low for the amount that you see following her. I looked at her page and she only has about 7,000 likes on average for each post . If the 796,000 IG followers were real people then she would have a lot more likes but they are just bots so they can’t contribute to the likes . Hope this made sense 😅

My win was last Friday. I’m about to be 18 and my best friend who is 20 and i teach him different subjects is blind and I went over to his grandparents house by myself for the first time without my grandmother being there. I have been falling in love with him and I want to be his caregiver one day because he has given me a reason to live after everything I have been through. I’m going to write his mom and dad a letter about my desire to help him and take care of him. My best friend and his family loves me so much. I’m homeschooled and I get to see him four days a week for a couple of hours. The only problem I have is my parents reaction to me being in love with him considering it would be so unlikely for anyone his age to fall for him and they might think it’s weird and they are special education teachers so they know how rare that is to see someone who is not disabled to fall for someone who is and want to take care of them.

It’s interesting how we are now seeing some of the Duggar children come forward with how broken their family really was. I’m curious in 10 years or so to see how their children are going to be. I obviously don’t want anything bad to happen to them, but you have to wonder how much a parent can really be in a child’s life when they are juggling 10 kids (and who knows how many more will come for this family). In the past, when we didn’t have modern medicine, think of how many children didn’t live very long lives because of illness, famine, or what not, we live in a very different world now. I definitely believe that we are blessed to live in a time with modern science (which is of course a total gift from God) and it’s honestly probably more of a sin to just ignore it. Anyways, I hope I’m wrong about this family, but I’m worried for their kids and if they really are getting all their needs met.
