I just buried my dad yesterday and before they closed his casket, I touched his chest and it scared me because I felt plastic under his shirt, hence the reason I'm watching this. I needed this explanation. ❤️

Only 23 years after I found a disposable diaper on my 3 year old daughter after she died. I was annoyed but now I can finally put my mind at ease. Many of your videos have helped me because the funeral company that dealt with my daughter didn’t think telling me what i needed to know because they didn’t think it would help me. I can’t thank you enough for helping me after so many years. Bless you for helping so many of us.

I had wondered all these years also why my mother had plastic wrap around her arms. Keri was straight up honest, and said, "she was leaking". At 1st I was like, omg!! But it all made since then.

I'm Truly Sorry for your loss Baelynn I cant ever Imagine what pain you Suffered losing your poor Mum ,my Heartfelt condolences to you and your Family, I lost my Sister Luanne aged 27 in 2001 and when Dad, Serena ( Sister ) and myself visited her at the Funeral Home we noticed Leakage and the Funeral Director said it was due to the fact that Luanne had Passed a Fortnight earlier then Dad passed away in 2009 aged 60 from Bladder Cancer having never Smoked or Drank , he was a Freak of Nature long hair in a Ponytail Beautiful Tattoos all over and a Physique Arnold Schwarzenegger would be proud of we went everywhere together we attended all the Manchester United games as that is our Football Team as were from Manchester England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 but even though Dad and i were Extremely close he always said that your Mum will always be your best friend until she is no longer here for you, the day i lose my Mum will be the day i stop living as it will be a matter of surviving I 🙏 for your Mum who would be so very proud of you and she will be watching over you in God's Kingdom waiting until you are together again . I wish you nothing but the very best Sweetheart , Peace and love to you from Carlo ❣️🌹❤️ 🕊️ 🙏 .

Just more unnecessary expense stickin a dead body inside a plastic bag. When your in the ground or in a museum, you'll still be worm food as once the decomposition process begins, which happens immediately after the person has passed, it isn't going to make a difference for dust you are, dust you'll return to, it's that simple. My mother had once told me while she was yet alive, and she herself cashed in since March of 2007, just leave a piece of baloney out for a few days and you'll see worms begin to eat away of the baloney. So it is the same with each of us, no matter how much you really don't want to deal with this stuff, your still gonna go back to what your originally made of, and that is, dust.

I am so grateful that videos like this are available on KZfaq. Undergarments used on the dead - NOT a topic that would even cross my mind as far as my curiosity about funeral preparations. At my Dad's funeral, I just assumed that he was wearing normal undergarments.

Sk 900 oh me too! My parents were both cremated. I used to think that was awful too but your body goes to ashes anyway so why not speed up the process? It’s cheaper and you can rent a casket like we did for both my parents due to a Catholic funeral. As long as the cremains are buried in a “holy place” like a Cemetary, Catholics do believe in cremation. I’m all for it...of course only when that time comes. 😬😳

Jessica Rich what are YOU talking about? Yes they do! I was talking about cremation! It’s called cremains if you want to get technical about it, or just dried up bone powder! If you’re not cremated then they do eventually do turn to an ashy waxy substance but after about 100 years there is nothing left but an ashy substance, a few teeth, and maybe shreds of clothing. Google it if you don’t believe me!

Whenever I felt anything under my loved one, I just figured it was something that the funeral director needed to do. I always felt that the body was just a vehicle and not REALLY my loved one. I always appreciated the care that the embalmers take. The soul of my loved one has left. But thank you funeral directors and embalmers for taking such loving care to polish their “shells” for me. ❤️❤️

I realized that when my mom passed and my dad wanted me to touch her. I was freaking out but there was just something about how he told me. So I did and I knew she was off as in freedom.🕊️

I found this video because at my mom's viewing the other day, I took a peek under the blanket in the casket and saw that her legs were covered in plastic. It was flesh colored, though. Her name was written in Sharpie on her left ankle. This video confirms what i had already suspected. Nicely done. Thanks.

Wow! This explains it. My brother was murdered and he had a autopsy done. When it was time to view his body, we touched his arm and chest area and it sounded like plastic. He also had plastic on his pillow. We were told that incase he had leakage it wouldn't ruin the casket but I still didn't fully understand why he would be leaking. Thank you so much for the info! ❤

It makes sense now, I think my dad had the sleeves on his arms, I thought why do the have grocery bags on my dad?!!! Seeing this and thinking back he did have a port in his arm. I honestly thought they were trying to bulk him up because he had lost so much weight. Thank you explaining things in such a loving and precise way.

Here's a thought: Families of the deceased should probably take the bulkiness of these garments into consideration when choosing their love one's funereal clothing, large enough to accommodate.

Sometimes people just pull out an outfit from the deceased's closet for their loved one's burial without realising that it doesn't even fit them anymore ... and the mortuary staff often cuts them down the back or unpicks seams where they won't be seen in order to make them fit wherever they can : )

Correct. When I know something like this will be used, like with tissue and organ donation I will guide them accordingly.

But I think it's best to be openly honest with the families without going into the gory details, because their understanding helps you to help them achieve what they want for their loved ones. Carol Christmas--Most morticians cut the backs of garments for the dearly departed to dress them for the long sleep. So, the garment, once sliced can be fitted around the truncated body bag.

When my mother passed,I dreaded even walking into the funeral home, never mind having to see her.I couldn’t have been more wrong.She looked at least 20 years younger than her years.I was astonished, and my memory of seeing her so beautiful,will never leave me.I told the director, whose cared for several in my family,how grateful and happy I was to see my mother as she looked in life.To you,Kari,and to all in the funeral industry,a most heartfelt thank you, for what you do,and for your skills, patience,and caring.It gave me peace at the most unbearable time of my life.

I have a friend who has always been bothered by feeling and hearing a lot of plastic under her suicided sister's clothing at her viewing last year ..she's been afraid that her sister was buried in plastic garbage bags, and 35 years ago when I tried mortuary studies these weren't even available. So I've sent her your video so she can rest easy knowing that there's no rubbish bags in her sister's coffin : ) I love your channel!

We found our neighbor passed away on his couch about 2 months ago and because of the extensive information you have shared I felt very prepared and was able to help in many ways! It helped me so much to feel like I knew the next steps and what to ask for. He was my neighbor but he was more like an uncle figure. Thank you so much for sharing your info with us! It truly helps!

When I did the hair and makeup for my mother in law she was in the unionalls. I knew she had donated her skin and long bones but was not prepared for the amount of leakage in the bag. I was panicked because I had picked out a white pantsuit for her viewing. My friends own the funeral home and assured me the clothes would be fine. They ended up adding additional absorbent materials between the suit and her clothing but there were still comments about how she felt crinkly under her clothes when people touched her. I never told anyone about it. She looked beautiful and that's all I wanted them to remember.

My Mother had been in the hospital and always had issues with IV’s. When she passed they wrapped her in Surran Wrap to keep to dampness off her dress. Unless you knew it you wouldn’t have noticed it.

I'm glad you mentioned about bed sores also known as decubtis ulcers. When I was an orderly in a hospital I recall having to care for several persons who came from nursing homes with extensive bed sores to the point of being really a cavern on the body. I often wondered how the funeral director would tend to that sorry reality of smell and oozing from that unnatural orifice.

Yes. At my sister in law's funeral, my mother touched her arm in the casket and pulled back. "There's something crinkly in there." She was horrified, but we remembered the report that MOST of that arm was gone, it was only marginally still attached. I don't know if she expected the morticians to do miracles; they didn't have all of her to put back together. I pictured it wrapped in plastic wrap there under her sleeve; wasn't far from wrong. It was tragic, she was young, but they did a very good job of making her look normal. Considering the accident, it was a stellar job. She was as pretty as her wedding day. Thank you.

My Grandmother had what felt like air bags on her arms. I always thought perhaps it was because she looked so thin. Now I wonder if she was leaking. She died at 99, of natural causes.

You are so sweet Kari. You make everything so transparent which I think dissolves all the horrible thoughts people have when they trust their loved one to a funeral homes care. I worked with my funeral home & dressed & cosmetised both of my parents because I wanted to continue to care for them. It is much better than years ago when someone died & was left to some old men at a funeral home to cover them up in make up. Times have changed. Much healthier to deal with our loved ones when they pass. You do such a beautiful job explaining everything. I think it makes a loss a little bit easier to deal with when you're involved. I didnt have any idea of these items! I just attended a funeral yesterday and it was a no viewing kind of situation. I am sure that they had to use something along these lines. I do give the funeral home loads of credit. They did so much work so that his son who is only 18 could see his Daddy one last time. Funeral home directors are such special people, and Kari you are right up there too! You and Little Miss Funeral have really helped me to be comfortable with death and to not be afraid. You both are so motherly and nurturing. Those are amazing qualities to have and its a part of what makes y'all so successful! Much love to you from us down here in Oklahoma! :-)

Thank you so much for this video. My older brother died the 1st of November 2019. When we were at the funeral home I put my hand on his arm in the casket and it was crinkly. And I had no idea what it was. I thought maybe they had just put some bubble wrap or something in there to Puff out his suit sleeve. But now I know it was a sleeve because he had been in the hospital and was probably leaking from IV holes. Thank you so much, I really appreciate just knowing this little extra detail.

My grandmother died when I was a child in 1989 and I thought I felt a trash bag under her and was so upset I thought they were going to do something crazy with her body and reuse the casket. This is helpful to know it was probably an undergarment.

Thank you so much for this video. My mother had sleeves on her arms. I noticed it and my best friend said it was probably to make her look bigger. She only weighed about 115 pounds. After watching your video, the funeral home probably ripped her skin. She was on blood thinners before she passed away. I love your informative videos.

Yes, I was panicking when I saw my son in casket. It didn't look like him. I thought they mixed us up with another family. I started unbuttoning his shirt and was horrified to find plastic covering his chest. I was trying to find his tattoos and a arm scare. An autopsy was done. But, me not knowing was terrible. I didn't want my son body covered in plastic. It felt disrespect to me. But, now I know the reason. Thank you.

I lost my brother in a car accident and when we viewed him at the funeral home, he had bruises on his check and a long deep scar on the other side of his face. The funeral director told my mom that the scar on his face was no problem because it wasn't on the viewing side. I thought they could have done a better job.

Thanks for sharing. My husband died 3 months ago and because of the horrible circumstances was not allowed to view him or even bring him clothing because I was having him cremated with no embalming. Any way I'm glad that I saw this video because I just have had the awful mental picture of him being put in the box to be cremated in naked. So glad to know that at least there was something to cover him up or at least I hope that was done. I am faced with alot of unanswered questions where his death is concerned so this was so helpful to know. I know I told you this about a month or so ago on one of your lives but because I have watched your channel for so long I knew I had the right to attend his creamation. I'm so glad I knew this because it was the only way I had to say good bye to him. The man who cremated him allowed me and my daughters to spend as much time as we needed and even push the button to start the process. I just want to thank you so much for what you share on your channel. I know you help so many people. God bless you

@@myangelcourtney I know, we’ll be dead and won’t be breathing in that coffin. I remember asking my brother such questions when our young neighbor that got killed by a drunk driver. I asked won’t he ever get hungry or breath. Nope, he told me no he wouldn’t. At nine years old I had trouble understanding that. But I studied Near Death Experiences and I realize I’ll be up in Heaven.

I appreciate the creator of these videos because you can see she is very compassionate. I have a good friend who does this for a living an he will tell you that this industry is very heavily regulated because if not the charlatans would have a field day. I as a minister have people spend well beyond there means putting a loved one away with people in this industry unlike this lady an my friend.

Thank you for the information. I always wondered why I heard a crackling noise when I touched my deceased sisters arm. Now I know. This has always been one of those things that's haunted me. Love your channel btw. Always learn something new, keep them coming. Question, do you have to have special training or a degree to do makeup for the deceased?? My sister and I had a pact, whichever died first, the other would do the others makeup. Thus, I did hers. I'd appreciate any info on this.
