The star of hit Spanish-language films as well as a magazine cover girl, Karla Souza has landed her first major English-language role, playing a law student on the series “How to Get Away with Murder.” She tells the TODAY anchors that she cried when she learned that she’d gotten the part, saving her from the “hell” of doing auditions during TV’s pilot season.

I don't like how they reduced her role as Laurel to that of Frank's romantic partner, when that is a very minor part of the plot and also not what her character is best known for. Aside from the fact that Frank is NOT a lawyer and that Laurel is definitely not shy and quiet.

It's not that hard to drop, is just that is easier to just talk and talk with a very hard accent so you just don't mess up with words and just concentrate in one thing. But, I don't know if you ever heard a mexican trying to emulate an accent from every part of the world, even if it's another country where they speak spanish. We're really good on that. It's just that she speaks very fluid and she's not trying to sound like Sofia Vergara even tho she's latina. I'm mexican and I don't have a hard accent either. Plus, she studied acting in Speech and Drama College in UK, so she learned how to speak in UK english, and if you compare it to US english, there you have. Easier too.
