Throughout this video I had in my head that the "kit" is $32 which isn't bad value... But of course that is just for two elastomers, so whilst they do work well I think they are quite expensive.

Agreed - I'd like to try these but given the price its a bit of a gamble if you dont like them...£50ish / 64 euro for 4 elastomers is way too much particularly given you really need the 4 to find the best combo for yourself. Thanks for the review - i too have found the CSL LC rock solid and would like a little more travel so at least its good to know that we're now seeing products out there to modify.

I was one of the few who commented how stiff mine was on the last video. How mistaken I was to complain. The rubber will break in a little bit and get a tiny bit softer. The travel will still not be much but it will be what it should be. Short, responsive and direct without unnecessary travel. Remember, you're NOT trying to make it feel like the spongy/squishy pedals in your road car(whish is really what this mod does). You want the initial travel as short as possible but with enough to get muscle memory going. After some time you will adjust and brake by pressure rather than travel. If you really must change something, try die springs! 20mmx25mm(ODxL) light load(blue) or 20mmx25mm medium load(red)

Would love to see the mod the Thrustmaster T-LCM pedals, but also your honest opinion using them compare to the stock pedals. Got my T-LCM straight out the box and really love them. Even didn’t change the springs. I came from a Logitech G920 so the difference is already really noticeable. I had the shifter mod from 3D-rap actually on my g920 and I must admit that they deliver some quality products. But didn’t used it for long because I switched to the TS-XW. And as always: good review mate! 👊🏻

Received my load cell pedal just today, and there's no a lot of movement. I've no race car experience, but it's like a road car without the engine running and you've pumped the pedal a few times - rock solid. Better than the spongy feel of the regular pedal but still not realistic for me, these could be the perfect solution. Great video as always, cheers.
@Disco_Potato
@Disco_Potato 2 жыл бұрын
Use it. It will beak in after a few hours. The load cell works the way race cars work, what this mod does is make it work like road cars. Mushy, spongy as you said. What you'll notice is that your muscle memory will set after a few hours and you'll know the pressure points by feel rather than travel.

@@Disco_Potato I've seen so many sim racers post this... Im not going to get any muscle memory when I'm having to slam my leg into the pedal to make it move at all. I get that these will be stiff, which I wanted, but it literally does not move when I put all my force behind it. This isn't right. I see some play in most videos especially older ones. Fanatec has changed something in new models. There is NO PLAY at all.

Fanatec definitely made a change with their elastomers. There's no way my stock pedals (received May 2022) had as much travel as I've seen in KZfaq reviews. Not even close. The 3DRap elastomers took care of it though. Thanks for the video.

I’m glad you decided to review these Karl as I was looking at them already but unsure which to purchase. The only true way to know which are best is to buy all but the price is too high for me personally to order all of them to then only use one setup. I’m new to Sim Racing, driven the everyday car for 15+yrs, done a few track experiences with sports cars but never driven a race car. I have the Fanatec DD Pro (8Nm) with Load Cell Pedal. Which setup would you use to allow me to experience a middle ground for most cars in GT7, ACC, F1 2022 (when I get it) and not lose the benefit of a LC? I’ll only be playing on my PS5 which I’m happy with. I’m not a hard core Sim Racer (yet) as it’s early days but I like to try and future proof my purchases as opposed to buying cheap and then constantly upgrading and changing things up. 3D Wrap didn’t say much other than “Hybrid or Linear” 🤷🏼‍♂️

Just adding some points - I think Fanatec have revised the standard elastomer due to early ones (which were softer) braking apart which I've seen on the forums. New batches have stronger and stiffer ones. For those little plastic pieces that they say wear out, I'd say it's more for people braking them rather than wearing out. I personally broke one of mine taking the original elastomers out and know a few people who have done the same.

I’m with you, they are overpriced, but they’re making bespoke sim gear so I suppose they have to turn a profit somehow. My pedal was literally unmovable and I can squat over 500 pounds. I bought the single linear spacer on Amazon and it only made a tiny difference. And just like Karl says in the vid, I broke my OEM black plastic pin thingies trying to reinstall the “spring” setup. So I was relegated to going to the actual 3drap site to get the replacement pins and a second linear elastomer. So in the end I’m out about $80 usd which is a lot considering it should’ve worked out of the box from Fanatec. I don’t like to think about how much I’ve spent on my rig, but in the end, the amount I’ve spent on this 3drap stuff is pretty nominal; relatively speaking

After a while with mine CSL loadcell I have a suspicion that fanatec changed the polymers to a harder one, with youtubers all having an earlier production run. After a couple of months of use, and at 70% brake force, it still has like 1cm travel. I see video reviews moving the pedal more just with their hands. When I popped my polymer stack out like you did in the video, it had so much force built up that the whole thing flew into pieces all over the room. And the black bushings snapped, so it's good that they do a replacement of a different material. I couldn't get it back together again so ended up cutting one of the polymers in half, which weirdly has helped the brake feel. Shame that these are very overpriced for a piece of rubber though

When i got my loadcell i thought it was faulty it was so stiff, literally felt like i was pushing on a brick wall. On day 2 i thought i had wasted my money and considered selling. I've now had it for almost 2 weeks and put a few hours on it and it feels completely different. Whilst it has softened a little, you adapt to it and it actually now feels like it has a lot more travel than what it actually does as you adapt to the new scale of range. I'd recommend to anyone who has purchased to at least give it 2 weeks before modifying.

i had a super stiff load cell and went with the double linear kit. feels a lot better. i was getting maybe 10mm or less of travel at 100%. i could only use 45-50% brake force. i did use them for hours and would just press/pump the pedal when not playing because it is close to my pc to hopefully get them to break in, but it just stayed like a rock. this kit is expensive but was really what i was hoping it would be. also my pedals were so stiff there was no squeezing the elastimer stack with my hands. i had to pry them loose with a covered screwdriver for leverage! sucks the price bridges the gap between the clubsport pedals lol. but getting these is slightly more convenient then selling my current ones and ordering new clubsports lol. great video though! wish you would have shown the travel you were getting before and after though.

I have been curious about this "tuning kit" after looking at fanatec's own tuning kit for the V3 (I think). The difficulty I have is I have no idea which elastiomer combination would suit me, especially as I quite like it as it is. Buying these at 18 euros a piece seems expensive for someone who is curious. If it was let's say £50 for a full set I would probably buy some but at 72 Euro and then adding shipping and duties and customs costs makes it a bit lest attractive.

Karl, another great video. I was looking at getting the csl pedals with load cell, but everything I watch says the load cell is too stiff, so I tried them at a local shop and they were right. So it has turned me off getting them until I saw these mods to help the stiffness. But in Canada these mods are $40 for a pair, plus $40 in shipping. So that is another negative for me getting the load cell unfortunately. So I was going to get the two pedal set without load cell, and try to make a better rubber insert for the pedal to make them more progressive and stiff. Any idea how to make a better rubber insert for the basic csl pedals? I can't justify spending $400 on the csl lc pedals then spending another $80 just so they are usable for me. Thanks Karl and keep up the great videos, they are great.

I would like the pedal to have a little travel and then start firming up, like in my real car, rather than feeling the same all the way down. I guess only hydraulics will do that?

Lol, I can't stop thinking about the average simracer ( young kid, probably not very built ) trying to remove the elastomer the same way :)))))))))) I`m not to big nor to small, but I had to get creative with some levers and stuff to get that thing out.....

Not useful to me but still interesting to watch. Or I'd say is, colour is a bit awkward if you like a tidy colour matched rig

Only $70 CAD for a couple pieces of rubber and shipping? seems a bit much. I understand they make them for profit but that's insane.

Bit like BBJ and their mods for thrustmaster pedals in particular.... Starting out as £10 a year and abit ago, now they're closer to 40, you'd expect them to atleast be made out of sturdier material.... But nope still typical weak 3d printed stuff
