Feeling preened and polished, Karissa steps onto the set. She strikes a pose. The flash bulbs pop. Her smile radiates. A new friend approaches to give her advice - expert advice. It’s supermodel Karlie Kloss! Karissa listens intently, in awe of the moment. Soon, she feels confident and at ease.
At 15, the social teen was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease. As she endured chemotherapy and radiation, and missed school and time with her friends, Karissa held tightly to her wish to be a model.
Karissa’s wish takes her to New York City for an incredible day with Karlie Kloss at a studio near Chelsea Piers where she is immersed in glamour. She peruses racks of the latest fashions and tables full of accessories and shoes, specially selected for her by a fashion stylist. With music pumping, the teen settles into a chair as her entourage -- a hair stylist, makeup artist, and manicurist -- gets to work.
Looking like a magazine cover girl, Karissa savors every minute. And in between the thrill of shared laughs with Karlie and many wardrobe changes, something else changes in Karissa. A new glow begins to shine, as she feels her mind and her heart settle on a new view of the future - one full of hope and anticipation.
