David Lucas was born in Macon, GA. He started acting an early age, performing in numerous stage plays at the Macon Little Theatre. He relocated to Hollywood where he was a contestant on, “MTV Yo Momma”. He has since written for several television shows and continues to perform stand up all over the country (for such comedians as Louis CK, Erik Griffin, Joe Rogan, Brendan Schaub, Tony Hinchcliffe, Bert Kreisher, DL Hughley and many more). David is a Kill Tony Hall of Famer and currently headlining his own tour!

There's a ton of nuance around black ppl talking about past trauma and racism they had to endure...Most black people take David Lucas' stance when they need to be palatable because they're paid by white folks. Karlous is self-made so he doesn't need to be palatable or "get over" history.

I love seeing Karlous facial expressions when he said he don’t believe in racism. It’s a generational thing. It’s not about seeing white ppl a certain way. History is history. We can’t get passed it if it’s still happening. I love that he said he don’t find it funny. I don’t sit up and watch all the slave movies. Yes it’s traumatic but I also feel like it gives insight on a time where laws and principles were established and still practiced today.

David is absolutely correct about constant harping on past trauma. Rumination involves repetitive thinking or dwelling on negative feelings and distress and their causes and consequences. The repetitive, negative aspect of rumination can contribute to the development of depression or anxiety and can worsen existing conditions.
