There are around 5000 women working in this unique market in India.
The British actually tried to take this market from the Women but they defended it and stopped the British from taking it! If it wasn't for those brave Manipur women, the market would not be here today. Jai Hind!

@@agentstona I've seen you everywhere with the same message. It seems that you don't understand it properly, meat is meat and he tried some. That doesn't mean supporting animal cruelty or promoting consumption of dog meat. Even if he hadn't had any dog meat there no dead dog will come back to live. In some places people eat bizzare things from your point of view, and that is because of the availability and abundance of it and on the other hand lack of substitutes. It must have been less than 100 years that most of the places are connected with roads, railways and flights making it easier to transport grains, cereals and other foods. But people living in remote areas have got used to their own food habit, in course of time their body also has adapted to their food. And there are lot more to say, just open your eyes and ears but shut your mouth more often. By the way, I love dogs and I've not had any dog meat even though I had many occasions where I could've have it. But I don't force anybody to feel like I feel and believe what I believe. You're doing just that, forcing people to believe what you believe with the help of false allegations. You're nothing but a stupid fundamentalist, a religious fanatic. Anyway, good luck trying to change people's diet 😂😆

You did a tremendous work there. I just want to clarify one thing why you couldn’t find any exotic ‘gift’ among that many stalls. The market is not run by well off rich women. Most of the sellers work really hard everyday to maintain their family and my state is not a very rich state so people usually doesn’t spend over 1000 rupees (15$) even in special events. So in order to maintain their livelihood, they have to sell what the common people in Manipur want and need for everyday use. That’s why you couldn’t find an artistic piece or a Gift as you may say. But you could’ve bought one of the garments they sell there. I am sure the person would be very happy to know that she/he receives a garment which was handmade and not some mere mass produced garments. Keep up the good work. Congrats.

The reason why unmarried women are not allowed is not because they are not welcomed just because they are not married. It was safer for a woman to have a husband who could protect her , and be respected and avoid unwanted attention.Unmarried woman doing business alone are vulnerable and would attract rowdy men. It's not like non married women are banned to sell things there , it's more like giving space for married women who needs break from everyday household life. Most mothers here when they get older, bored and feels unproductive at home , they tend to go there and do their business. Non married women and men are just respecting that.

My favorite place for marketing...here u can bargain n buy any items but those "ema" r so gentle,humble n i buy them without bargaining...some of them even come from other district catching a bus n auto rickshaw...better to buy there than buying in fancy bazaar
