Hanging Pawns

The Karpov Caro-Kann is one of my favorite chess openings. It's strategically and positionally rich, it could get tactical quickly, and it leads to very instructive, imbalanced endgames.

The Karpov variation is one of those openings that requires deep strategic understanding rather than learning tons of theoretical variations. It leads to imbalanced positions in which both sides have several weaknesses, and in which there's multiple plans to play for for both sides.
This game was very thematic for the opening. I faced a 2400 rated opponent who'd lost a tempo in the opening by playing the unnecessary h3, other than that, we'd both followed main line theory as well as the most thematic ideas.

49:50 in this position Ne6+, followed by sacrificing the Knight for a the f4 pawn is a draw! The h1 square is different color than the bishop.

Interesting that Stockfish says both your lone mistake and your lone blunder were overlooking ...a5. Engines don't understand that traditionally missed opportunities are not considered blunders. It's not like dropping material, and otherwise you had only 2 inaccuracies, so a well played game indeed.

I was fine with the sponsor integration during analysis, but during games? That sucks

Maybe the sponsor requested earlier placement. The longer a video the more people quit watching.

Hey Stjepan, in the English language, if you don't know someone's gender, you can use the so-called singular "they", instead of saying "he or she")

These days "they" may mean something else. There is always White, Black or my opponent.
