From New Year’s Eve 2023 to New Year’s Day, we took a 2-day trip to Karuizawa’s “Haluta Hotelli.” Our stay was at “Still,” a beautifully renovated complex in an old drive-in, surrounded by Nordic vintage furniture. On the evening of New Year’s Day, the Noto Peninsula earthquake stopped the Shinkansen, but thanks to our love for trains, we found an alternate route home.
