Remember new Beginner that Storage Engine = MRG_MYISAM is read only that means that you cant insert data into the table through php code for that you do Storage Engine = innoDB. 3:15

I am new to database and just realised that by using null is easier if some of the variables are unknown. I also noticed that i don't have to declare or set those variables... is this also true for undefined? For some reason.. when i set my other variables to 0... it won't work unless i make it null

Thanks for the video. In case a student id is like this :fuo/18/bch/3007,which one should i use,int or varchar. I would like to achieve the following objective. If a student clicks on the registration page,he/she will be prompted to enter his/her student id.if the id is found in the database ,the registration page will open and the student will be allowed to fill in other details.how do i go about this?
