Kasey is Australian Country music royalty in Australia. Started in the family band when she was around 10 years old. The youngest artist to be honoured in the ARIA hall of fame ( Australian recording industry association). Singer/songwriter and a huge Eminem fan. During Covid lockdown wrote the arrangement and gave her rendition. She feels the lyrics as she has also lived them.

Kasey brings a whole new level of emotion to the already great lyrics. Melancholy, haunting through to pain, anguish, defiance and power. That’s her Dad on slide guitar. Kasey is a singer songwriter from way back in Australia. Thanks for your reaction

The gentleman on the steel guitar is Kasey's father, Bill. Kasey started as a 10 year old, with the family group Dead Ringer Band; along with her father, her mother(Diane) and older brother(Nash).

Kasey has a dozen albums under her belt and is one of Australia's top Country artists. She's been inducted into Australia's 'Hall of Fame' and has a career spanning decades. Her normal wheelhouse is blues/country, but is not afraid to stretch herself out of there. This arrangement was created by her during the Covid lockdown. Kasay has the ability to share her emotions through her music with her fans (as you just found out). Where to from here? Depends on what you want to feel. 'Aint no little girl' is like a break-up song, 'Not pretty Enough' to her rejection by the Radio Stations, even as her album sales skyrocketed, 'Nullarbor (live)' about being homesick, and so on.

@@GhostCrowBrother A lot of music rights are held by a label or studio, and they often make the decision on copyright. But Eminem is one of those artists who keeps a hold on to ownership of most of his work. So to get this version on Spotify it's a good bet Eminem had to give the ok

Kasey has a lot of respect for Em because like her he puts real emotion into his lyrics and performances. She used COVID lockdown to work on this song. Kasey is the youngest women inducted into the Australian Record Industry Association’s hall of fame, her first album was critically acclaimed but they wouldn’t give it airplay so she wrote a song called Pretty Enough as a f u to the radio stations. The similarities are there in their stories and why she makes this song sound like she wrote it herself. Now for Em to do a version of Pretty Enough 😂😂😂

Apologies in advance for the long post. So glad you reacted to this! Thank you 🙏🏻 Kasey is an Aussie legend who has been in the music industry for around 40 years, right from a kid in the family band. Yes, it is a very, very tall order to cover Eminem’s songs, but Kasey was well up to the challenge and blew it completely out of the water and made the song her own. Pure testament to Marshall’s songwriting and lyrical ability + Kasey’s phenomenal talent in arrangement, emotional connection to lyrics (she has lived these lyrics) and her awesome vocal capability! ❤ Love also that the video wasn’t professionally shot…just a mix of phone recordings from that night that were mashed. I have been watching reactions to this for two years (since this was released) and it never fails to give me goosebumps and brighten my day. It is really sad that Em/Marshall has not yet publicly commented on Kasey’s rendition but his record company did give her permission to release on Spotify etc., so guess that was his way of saying, “yup, good enough”! 😂 I just love how she treats that banjo like a guitar later on and just shreds it! Dad, Bill, on slide kills it and the rest of the band was also fantastic! Notice how Kasey also keeps mostly to the cadence (slowed down but still there), even though she isn’t rapping…that is a feat in itself. BTW…welcome to the Kasey rabbit hole. This lady has suffered/struggled for her art (not many covers BTW… usually all original works) and no matter the rejection and crap from the record companies, she has never given up…that’s why we love her so much. ❤ She is best in live performances as she always gives 150+%. As many times I’ve seen Kasey live…I am so damned jealous I wasn’t in Newcastle that night! 😢

Kasey Chambers is an accomplished Australian country, and a huge Eminem fan; during the lockdown for Covid, she reworked Eminem's rap song into her own song. The difference between the original and her version is so far apart, the Kasey was given permission to upload this performance to Spotify in it's own right.

I feel like Kasey has retold Eminem's story so clearly and we can actually feel his pain and angst and not just his anger! Slowly retelling it then she let's her own personal feelings come through and we all feel how much his early life made him go 'shout out to the world' Brilliant performance and more than just a cover.... Eminem version was like a punch in the face lol But now I understand his anger.... Great reaction!

Kasey doesn't do a great number of covers, since 1998 to 2022, Kasey has released 12 studio albums and her singles releases; she has received many awards and accolades for her music, she also refuses to be pigeonholed by anybody to one style of music. Kasey's songs may be mainly country, she finds ways to successfully incorporate different influences into her music. You need to react to her catalogue of music. She is GENUINE AND REAL.

Kasey Chambers is an Australian legend: the youngest person to be inducted into the Australian Music Hall of Fame, a dozen albums and has more than 30 ARIA Awards (the AU Grammy's). She is beloved but is ignored by radio and was shunned by Sony. She's been performing in her father's band since she was 12 years old (her brother is backing vocals and her dad is on the steel guitar on stage here). She had some pop hits in the 90s but her heart and soul is Country in her own style. She wanted to commemorate the 20th anniversary of this song because she loves Eminem, and she had the time to rearrange and compose this masterpiece during lockdown. She is showing so much emotion because she has lived this to a degree as well. She is now 48 years old and a mother of three. This recording is the first time it was ever performed live and was done at the end of the concert. They thought it went well, so they used the recording from the sound desk and asked their fans who were in attendance to provide any footage they had to composite this one together. While there has been no public approval from Em, she has been allowed to put this song up on Spotify without challenge.

When you have some emotional support nearby, try "Redgum - I Was Only 19 (A Walk in the Light Green) (Official Video)" It's an Australian song, so anything that sounds like a town name in the first verse, assume is a training site (eg Puckapunyal, Canungra, Shoalwater, Townsville)

Kasey herself has said in a past interview that she didn't know whether Em had heard it or not. Plus Em doesn't own the rights to the song so couldn't 'give permission' anyway. I've yet to see anyone provide a citation that Em has actually heard it. The fact it's on Spotify is NOT evidence.

Now you have an intro into Australia's music, Do Yourself A Favour and Explore For More . What ever your taste, we have it . We are so far from the US & Europe our music has been ignored and often deliberately ignored and hidden by recording executives. Not only little profit from foreign bands and musicians, when they do well, your own artists sell less. Our ROCK artists and bands have to prove themselves on the live pub circuit first.. . If ya cant play and sing live like a recording, then f' OFFFFF, we dont want ya. lol We actually have 2 guitarists from very different genres who are both considered the best in the world by legions of fans world wide . Tommy Emmanuel is a self taught finger picker who still cant read music, plays by ear only.. ...learnt to play all Chet Atkins stuff by the age of 6 yo......by listening to Chet on the radio. He didnt know Chet had a band, so he learnt to play everything at once......bass, percussion, rythm and lead all at once. Made his name as a freakish kid until forced back to school. Then made a name for himself as a rock guitarist, before going back to his favoured accoustic guitars and styles... . He still cant read music, but travels the world doing his one man guitar show, tutorials for those intrrested in learning guitar, and lecturing in guitar theory at the worlds most snobbish music conservatoriums..... The 2nd guitarist has lived mostly in England, but was born in Sydney to an Australian mother, so we reckon he is Australian. Considered by many to be the worlds best Classical guitarist.....John Williams. Famous for his lack of bumb notes and magical tones, he plays a hand made Aussie guitar ( made by a farmer ) that no one else can make sound good.....his fans want him to go back to his priceless European Classical Guitar... ..but he loves the sound of his Aussie guitar and so do many of his classical contempories......one of whom actually stopped performing to concentrate on writing new music just for John to play .
