That was a great fight for sure. I like how you don't handle the fish and just release them with the pliers. Wonderful job!

Joshua, from 1984 to 2006, I caught over 1852 kings out of the Kasilof River on my fly rod and drift boat. I used a comet pattern, bead eyes, polar bear overwing and a 3/0 hook. It was my favorite fly. During 1984 to 1992, I'd often catch 20 Kings a night for about 10 nights during the peak of the run. I used a 11' 6 weight Gary Loomin Rod or Orvis Rod with 6" fighting butt. The reel back then was a Ross Saltwater S-3 from Etna, CA... and I used a weighted forward line with a 10' sink tip and a 6' leader of 6-8 lbs... Those were the days... Pursuant to your video, I have caught many kings on that lip of the outflow of the slide hole... One time I dropped into that area and had 4 rods casting out of my driftboat and we got three hookups withing 10' of each cast at the same time... Congrats on a nice fish. Ready too laugh? I used to catch your amount and more casting from that long gravel bar below the kasilof hatchery entrance using a vibrax spinner!😳🤣🤪

Was only bleeding from hook puncture. It's a wild fish, only allowed to keep hatchery fish.
