As long as we (and our students) understand what we ARE and are NOT doing then that's fine. Personally, I'd rather spend the time doing something that's fun AND useful.

What do you mean by me training "at the Shotokan".

@@AppliedShotokan it's still the place where they TEACH Funakoshi's karate... Surely if you practice SHOTOKAN karate you know this? Would you like the address in Tokyo? Just so you can confirm it?

Do you have a question about the video or my approach to karate? You seem to take objection to the name of my YT channel, "Applied Shotokan".

I'm sure this won't come as a shock but you're never going to convince the world's Shotokan people that that they aren't doing Shotokan. Neatly avoided you're question? No, I just don't care. For the record, I can't train at the JKA hombu dojo either. I left them so I could have the freedom to explore practical Karate. As a Shotokai person, I don't know where you get off criticizing my karate. My entire approach is based of practicality, including practical application of kata (Oyo). The funny thing about "traditionalists" such as yourself is you somehow think refusing to evolve is a noble pursuit. Even Funakoshi himself acknowledged that martial arts must change with the times. You came here looking for a fight. Please go troll someone else.
