Brilliant- even though you move without trying to do anything to your partner, he is affected because he is connected to you. Using imagery (gripping a Jo or carrying a backpack) allows your brain to organize all the necessary muscles and makes it easy to execute your intention(s). You think grip the Jo like this and uke falls down; How easy can you make it. Just elegant....nice!

I love this (of course -- I love everything Yoshi sensei shows us) just, the subtitles talk about "him and me and the jo." what does that mean? were you having people imagine that they were holding a jo? or that someone named Joe was part of the interaction? or that you were holding a mug of coffee ("cup of joe")?

Paul San, thank you for your kind words and comment! I use Jo to teach my body how to move. So, I share how to use Jo to practice. I will show you when I see you next time. Very simple movements!
