My first time listening to The Longest Year by Katatonia. Where has this band been my entire life. A very good, deep and emotional song.

Just found your channel looking for Katatonia reactions, im also been a fan of Riverside since their early days. Dont sleep on this band man they are amazing ill suggest Disposession by them, its one of my faves and Day for something different.

Absolutely love Katatonia - I have only just discovered your channel today (via KZfaq algorithm - sometimes it works) while I watched you react to one of my favourites - The Pineapple Thief. Fun fact; Bruce Soord (the vocalist from TPT) is good friends with Jonas Renkse (Kata vocalist) which is even more incredible, I find. They even collaborated in the past. Anyway; love your work. I am starting with all your material chronologically and going through it now (will be a long and great night I suspect). I dig the fact that you DO NOT pause the songs. Instead, you listen, comment occasionally and then analyse at the end. Rock on my friend.

Love Katatonia. I think this is a perfect song to get someone into the band. It's emotional, has quiet and heavy sections, it's rhythmically interesting and has a great chorus. Good pick, glad you liked it.

Jonas Renkse Singer in Katatonia and Mikael Åkerfeldt from Opeth are real life best friends and both from Stockholm Sweden. They both Started with Deathmetal.

@@sonicallydisruptive when asked during an interview, if they would do a project together, Mikeal said ' I can't imagine how that would sound' 🤣 In fact they actually have played together in Bloodbath, a Death Metal / Grind All-Star Project. I don't know, if Jonas still is Part of it, but Mikael left as vocalist (!) some years ago. Sidenote: this very song has helped me a lot during some more difficult times 10 years ago. I still admire the whole record. Last year Katatonia toured with 'Night is the new Day' for its 10th aniversary. I went to the show here in Berlin and it was mindblowing and full of bittersweet nostalgica. Thanks for your reaction ❤🤘

Hi again. Katatonia are amazing! I'm a bit biased towards their older stuff though. The album Viva Emptiness is beyond incredible to me (every song is great). The one after (The great cold distance) is also great. Just some suggestions from those two records: "Soil's song" "My twin" "Ghost of the sun" "Burn the remembrance" "Criminals" "Wealth" "Walking by a wire".

Not a fan of Katatonia but I like the singer colabs with other bands and projects. One of this is with the post rock band Long Distance Calling - The nearing grave. Sweet instrumentals, great athmosphere and his voice just fits perfectly.

“Sold heart” is a masterpiece as well. The longest year will always be #1 by katatonia for me but sold heard is right behind it, but then again this entire album is amazing.
