“The Winter Of Our Passing” is the third single to be taken from the band’s new album and is accompanied by this stunning animated video, created by the incredibly talented artist Costin Chioreanu of Twilight 13 Media (twilight13medi...)
The song follows on from the album’s debut single “Lacquer”, and the upbeat “Behind The Blood” featuring Katatonia’s trademark screaming guitar solo and hugely memorable chorus.
Three years in the making, City Burials is another huge statement from the legendary band that are eleven albums into a career that spans three decades.

Yes! Misunderstood by the music press AF but when you know Katatonia that long, you notice that this is a masterpiece in perfection. I love it too, no album was deeper than this in 2020. Album of the Year... and one of the best albums ever

Honestly Katatonias drummer is so underrated its maddening lol I wish he did more material for himself online. Some of their older albums had incredible riffs and grooves, even before other genres adapted it. His sense of time is great. One of the best bands live from what ive seen online and heard. Wish he did drum cams.

I love the groove and the feel of this absolute banger of a song! Been waiting for a new Katatonia album for too long. The production is crisp, clear and oh boy, the drums just stand out! Jonas sounds so young as if we're back in 2006. This should have been longer.

I hear ya, man! I think this may be the first album though that doesn't top their last, only because Fall of hearts became their best album to date for me. But yeah, this album is FIRE regardless! Better than Dead End kings!

Simplesmente, essa música foi feita pra pessoas com sentimentos abertos, feridas que ainda não cicatrizaram. Cada vez que eu ouço ela, tenho vontade de estar com a pessoa que amei tanto e acabei perdendo. Talvez um dia eu consiga tirar esse sentimento de culpa, que se tornou treva e escuridão na minha vida. Só lágrimas e um vazio horrível, foi o que sobrou. Por enquanto, músicas como essa me fazem sentir melhor, não sei explicar o motivo, mas fazem.

Probably the best song on the album wich is btw a little bit too proggy for my taste. I was so in love with discs like "tonights decision", "the great cold distance" or "night is the new day". I'm missing the emotional refrains a little bit. I cannot deny you guys KATATONIA are genius and a band has to develope their style somewhere. I learned to love you for something else. But noone can take that away from me, right? You rock on, guys.

Still on the fence about City Burials, too, but I really loved The Fall of Hearts - especially Residual resonates(d) with me deeply and is an eternal masterpiece in my eyes. That being said these albums take a little while to grow on you, so I'll see :)

ALWAYS have dug these guys and the more they create the more I listen. As for this track. Very interesting composition and extremely tricky time signatures which produce a really solid percussion arrangement. I have always liked the way Jonas infuses that gloom tone in his singing yet has a melodic undertone that balances out the music at the same time. Very progressive tonality to this yet very listenable.

I’ll be 100% honest. I had put off listening to this album for a couple months. I love them so much, their music is just astonishing and hits me in all the feels. I was worried that City Burials might take a turn and tarnish how I feel about them, like Opeth. Sure you still have the old stuff you love, but you want so badly for the new stuff to be just as good. I shouldn’t have worried, this album is truly amazing.
