Without question Kate and Anna should be in the Songwriter's Hall of Fame.

What a great performance! I would have expected a lot more views and up votes but I guess most younger people aren't fans of folk music such as this. I first heard the song when Emmylou Harris sang it. Emmylou did it so well but to me this hauntingly beautiful rendition with Kate and Anna accompanied by Joel Zifkin's fiddle is unsurpassed. Thanks to Anna McGarrigle for writing this gem and like so many good artists, Kate left this world much too soon. The singers/musicians/songwriters I enjoy are often from Canada, even those I discovered on KZfaq who aren't well-known but are very good acoustic guitarists and singers. Unfortunately some of them no longer have accounts.

Childhood is a treasure we should never entirely leave behind. I don't know she does it but Anna McGarrigle sings songs into which you can walk, look around, become quiet, rediscover long forgotten feelings and smells. Her songs on youtube are like a willow tree for me, which I can visit when I feel I should.

classic mcgarrigle work; rustic, allusive, and pretty without being soft.

First time listening to this video. I like the song and have heard the sisters perform it on different videos. This would have been better if the violin was played less loud. I guess when this was performed they did not have an audio tech to balance out the instruments and vocals. the ladies had no way to signal the violin player that his playing drowned out a lot of the vocals. Still a thumbs up. IMO this music is way better than hip-hop- rap, and most of what is out there these days. North Hills CA USA 12-08-2021

Could anyone help me with this: Joan Baez is supposed to have commented quite UNkind in her biography of 1988 on her cooperation with the McGarrigle Sisters - the book has no Index. Does anyone know the details ?
