Qui in Italia la ricordiamo soprattutto per questo brano, ma la sua intera produzione è di straordinario livello. Smise di andare in tournee quando in un tragico incidente morì un ragazzo addetto alle luci e solo di recente è tornata a cantare dal vivo. La sua natura interiore però la spinge soprattutto ad esibizioni con pubblico ristretto, nei teatri piuttosto che negli stadi. Una donna di grandissima sensibilità ed un'artista fuori dal comune.

This was a big hit in Italy. My dad was stationed in Italy at the time and I lived in Italy and heard it everywhere. Love the singer and the song but it wasn't a hit in the US for some reason.

In the US the kind of music is different from Europe. More guitars, less keyboards. Duran Duran had a good success in US, because the sound of the Live concert ARENA was based on the guitars of Andy Talylor. Even on the album Seven and the ragged Tiger. Andy e Roger Tylor left Duran Duran and then, the keyboards of the magician Nick Rhodes took the leadership into the Duran Duran's Music. Starting from the album So Red The Rose of Arcadia ( 3/5 of Duran Duran Members ). The european artists have got a lot of hard work to go into the US charts, for this reason. American people acostumet to listen another kind of music.

I'm not. Her performances are exciting but I couldn't find a live record where she sings this song in tune. Obviously, singing and dancing at the same time is too complex and I assume she didn't want to "just" sing.

Arte pura ! Ed era pure la prima della British Invasion che spazzò via la musica italiana dalla classifiche di vendita, dal 1978 al 1987, con Sanremo che a sua volta spazzava via l'invasione straniera. Quando ce la faceva. Prima del 1978 dominavano le classifice gli italiani con il Re degli Ignoranti Adriano Celentano in testa, con Battisti, Morandi e Mina. Nemmeno i Beatles ce la facevano. Poi, dal 1978 in poi cambia la musica, in tutti i sensi della parola, e la tecnologia straniera ha il sopravvento sulla musica italiana. Dal 1984 Sanremo provava a spaccare le classifiche stradominate dagli stranieri, ma poi appena passati i 3 mesi di vendite sanremesi tornava il predominio straniero. E fino al 1987 in ogni caso stavamo parlando di musica di qualità ai vertici delle classifiche, salvo gli intermezzi delle canzoni per i più piccoli. Nel 1987 c'è stata la fine della musica. In vetta ci andavano canzoncine farlocche, o addirittura demenziali, di bassa qualità, o al massimo dei big, raggiungevano pure la vetta delle classifiche, ma nemmeno con le loro canzoni migliori. Basta vedere chi vendeva, dal 1987 in poi : Sei un Pirla, C'è da Spostare una Macchina, Gimme Five ... fine della musica !

Beh, aldilà che la Kate è secondo me straordinaria per quanto riguarda la musica Italiana di cui parli, Battisti o Mina e non solo, parliamo di crema,negli anni poi di cui parli, dall'87 in poi forse eri distratto perché c'era un Italia un gruppo che proprio in quegli anni toccava i vertici della loro musica,i Litfiba cioè per quanto i Diaframma non fossero da meno....

@@stefanocuci6889 1987 non c'è nessun singolo e nemmeno l'album uscito in Dicembre 1986, tra i primi 100 più venduti nell'anno solare, e comuque un caso non fa giurisprudenza, perchè nel 1987 allora gli U2 hanno venduto molto con The Joshua Tree ma è una band che arriva dagli anni '80, idem i Depeche Mode. Quindi non c'entra nulla con il discorso che nel 1987 c'è stata una ondata di musicaccia nelle classifiche di vendita, e da li è iniziato il tramonto della grande musica anni '80. E' vero che nei '90 ci sono stati i Blur, Cranberries, Nirvana, 883 ed in Italia nei '90 Luna Pop, Negramaro, Velvet, Sugarfree, Le Vibrazioni, ma non c'è più stato il culmine di artisti e di qualità toccata negli anni '80.

@@ilakemybike In riferimento alle vendite hai ragione in pieno e purtroppo radio e tv hanno deciso il mercato,nel senso che "la visibilità"ha deciso chi vendesse o meno,ma anche la scarsa diciamo cultura musicale della gente che oggi tocca vette davvero incredibili ha fatto il resto.... Per quanto riguarda la British invasion bisogna dire che dalla maledetta isola sono arrivati gruppi realmente storici e fantastici,personalmente sono cresciuto a Genesis ma naturalmente nominare tutti i gruppi sarebbe fare un elenco lunghissimo,e parlo di musica di qualità,quella per capirsi che oggi col cazzo senti in radio... PS,ok per i Velvet,non mi sono mai piaciuti i Negramaro ma questi son gusti personali...

it's clearly stated in the description below the video 😉BTW, she couldn't have had performed and sing a completely live version of this song with all the choreography and technical aspects that were needed, like she did in the "Lionheart tour", which she later staged in 1979. She was maybe the first to use a headset mic to let her sing and dance at the same time, and express the full aspects of her creative art. It's very interesting to see how this groundbreaking young lady had influenced music and art for years to come 🙂
