"God Bless America" is more than just a song-it's a national prayer. This stirring anthem was introduced by Kate Smith during her 1938 Armistice Day radio broadcast. Written by Irving Berlin in 1918 while serving in the U.S. Army and revised by him in 1938, it has since echoed throughout countless stadiums, parades, and hearts, resonating with our enduring love for our country.
The film "This Is the Army," is a beloved musical produced during the trying times of World War II. This motion picture offered the American people a sense of hope, camaraderie, and the firm belief that united, we can overcome anything.
Our HD remastered video captures the enduring beauty and power of Kate Smith's performance. We’ve meticulously enhanced the original recording's visual and audio quality, preserving its vintage charm while ensuring a more engaging viewing experience for modern audiences.

1943: Kate had originally recorded this for Victor in 1939. Irving Berlin retooled it for the movie and the Warner studio orchestra and chorus backed her so well. America and the Allies needed this after taking a shellacking in the first year of the war. But the tide was about to turn, and morale-boosters like this one helped the Allies to eventual victory.

Fun fact: the Philadelphia Flyers NHL team actually had Kate Smith sing God Bless America at some of the most important games in the season for a few years. The reason they did this was because almost every time that she sang, they won so they considered her singing a good luck charm. They even had her sing in the Stanley Cup Finals in 1974 and 1975, both of which the Flyers would win

Today Mon.6-17-24 is my first time hearing and seeing Kate Smith😮 She was amazingly phenomenal with her ability to stand in a boring, looking area and sing her heart out song after song after song, clear understandable voice.. This is so hard to imagine someone even doing one song without a mic audience, etc… standing there with papers in her arms sing like she was a machine.. did she even take a soup of water? being a singer myself I couldn’t even compare to that.. even on my best day. I am so amazed. What other person could sing like that? (hers was not the most beautiful voice I ever heard, but it is very likable./lovable. She must’ve inspired someone... just like Hank Williams,….. but he became well-known…. Especially inspiring other musicians……. It seems she didn’t…..??😮🥲

The most gut wrenching rendition of GOD BLESS AMERICA…..if you don’t get emotional over this song, you don’t LOVE AMERICA. MOST MILITARY VETS Have a “gut check” with her singing this song, I LOVE IT!

American military personnel around the world actually cried on the radio when they actually heard her voice singing God Bless America. In 1968 on Rowan and Martin Laugh In, the guy Dan Rowan told her on the show can she actually sing God Help America.

I'm Canadian. A military veteran. I have loved America and Americans ever since I can remember. I pray for America every day. O to God that He would come back to our nations again. Something terrible has happened and only God can right it. America bless God! Canada bless God!. If enough of us pray, He will come back.

Yes...something terrible has been growing quietly and unknown in the shadows for sixty years now. Red, murderous, mindless Marxism has made its bid to destroy the western world. People, our own citizens and foreign influencers who have been disguised as mild mannered well meaning socialists; just to the left of center, have made their grasp for power. Covid was an intentional attack, millions of American people have died. Murderous unruly mobs, the paid agents of our enemies stalk the land and thousands of businesses have been burnt but very little gets into the media because the network of traitors is vast. The next 10 to 15 years will decide....be strong people..

I get tears when I hear that, but the reality of the hymn of the Republic makes me cry also makes me proud for those men and women in the wars, whoever the Canadian or American they fought for our freedomand a lot of us have forgotten that and it makes me sick and it makes me sad as a Canadian I say God bless America. God bless America and God bless my own country Canada because we are in trouble too. God bless us all. Amen.
