It was inevitable. I see a Loewe x Studio Ghibli collab (Howl's Moving Castle!!!) & I must dupe it immediately (using thrifted items!) 👀 I think Miyazaki-san would approve.

when I paint on denim or leather my biggest tip is to start with a layer of white! it lets you get a base coat down without having to build up colours as much, and it also just makes the colours tend to pop more :) that is my technique suggestion!

New thing reccomendation: find a latch hook rug kit and hook it up, then slap it on a jacket or bag? I recently peer pressured a friend into buying a garfield christmas latch hook at goodwill! Also, tip from someone that did stencils as part of their job, if your surface is uneven or you are worried about the edges bleeding always do the first coat in the color of the item you are painting on, that way if it bleeds its just the background color and that first layer will seal the edges!

I'm really interested in learning about plant-based dying, especially the kind where they wrap up plant matter (ex: petals, whole flowers, whole herbs) in tight bundles and soak them in a solution, then unroll, pick off the plant matter, and the colors/shapes are left on the fabric.

Everything looks so great. That scarf was so cool! The shaving cream technique is one I'll have to try, for sure. I also see things and think how can I make it myself? I'm so impressed that the acrylic didn't mess up the cashmere! I've been experimenting with ombre dyeing some pants green and they kind of look like a spring onion?? So now I'm wondering if I should make a spring onion out of fabric to like.... Attach to them somehow. Idk if I'll follow through haha

Ahhhh! This is so good! 🔥 We love Howl’s Moving Castle so much (it’s a toss up between that and Kiki!), and I am so inspired! I think the jacket is my favorite; I already had a denim shirt/chore coat on my thrift wishlist, but now I’m thinking I need to flex my DIY skills and try to make it a bit more personalized (if/when I find the perfect piece, of course). I loved this!! I think American thrift stores are the thing that I miss the most! They have such great stuff to craft onto! 🔥 I, too have the hubris of ‘I can make that’ probably due to my adhd. Adore what you’ve done (esp. the scarf and the blue wallet! 👏🏼)! I’m thinking of trying to recreate the feather sweater by cross stitching Howl’s face and then attaching my collection (don’t ask) of glossy black feathers onto a thrifted sweater. We’ll see how that goes! Happy to have found you!

oooh I can never get fabric paint to look crispy so I am intrigued (admittedly I have tried a grand total of once). currently trying to find a way to make breeches with a poofy knee (like a poofy sleeve, but on the knee cap. knee sleeve). holy clothing posted some concept designs last week that are exactly what I'm looking for but who knows if they'll actually ever drop
