By far the best version of Romanian dances. No one can match it.

This performance is excellent indeed. Despite this I propose you to watch this version: "Muzsikás - Bota and Invertita / Bartók - Romanian Folk Dances"

@@gesandor I cannot agree more. The performance you mentioned embodies the whole richness and depth of that piece, the whole spectrum of feelings: joy, energy, lyricism, mystery. Since I heard it I'm totally in love with it and judging from the facial expressions of the musicians and enthusiastic ovation of the audience, I'm not alone in my feelings. This is not just a show, this is a shared experience of something, which words can't express, but music can bring us close to.

"My life time gold is to continue and finish the study of romanian peoples folk music. For the romanians peasants the music is a general and natural pursuit. My universal guideline is the idea of the brotherhood of people despite all of the wars and misunderstandings" words by Bela Bartok. A universal idea that people to unite against evil for the sake of humanity, giving a hearty slap to chauvinism

I love romanian music! It is very alike to serbian music, some of our old folk songs are actualy originaly romanian. Our cultures were and still are it touch with eachother! Greetings from a Serb of Bosnia and Herzegovina!!!

Romania is a great culturally country and should be respected as such. Our classical composers, our literature, our language and rythimcal poems makes us a great noble people, just like the people of Russia, britan or french, Romania is great great country.

bartok was the one of the greatest composer in the nationalist era to combine the endemic folk sounds of his culture, its fromal structure and melodic motives, with the conventionalinsm of modern harmony theory, and the results are just great.

In November 2010 I discovered this clip. I wrote to Katica Illenyi to thank her. Seeing this again encouraged me to publicly thank her for bringing me out of my stupor at university studying something that doesn't matter. Her playing of Jocul Bata (no. 1) brought me back home again to realize that the only thing that really matters is music. Since then, I have written nearly every single day and have had a piece performed by an ensemble. Thanks again, Katica, the great master would be happy to hear you play his music--the music of Transylvania.

Yes, quite so; just so. Music is what really matters to me. Despite love, despite humanity and compassion, ultimately we each of us stands alone for several decades (if we are lucky) and music endures.

Hiszen a nép zenéje a nép lelke. Ehhez csak annyi került hozzá azóta, hogy egyik nép sem gonosz, s a politikát sosem a nép csinálja, hanem a politikusok. Attól és csak attól mocskos. Köszönöm Illényi Katicának ezt a mostani élményt!
