Hi, welcome to my Channel. In this tutorial, I will show you how to create a beautiful gemstone chain. This chain feels lovely to wear with fantastic fluidity as it moves.
Techniques used;
Forming wire
Wiring a gemstone to a frame
Creating a loop
Connecting your chain
Hammering metal
Materials used;
6.5 cm pieces of 1mm wire to create each section
0.4mm wire
8mm round gemstones
Wire Gauge???
Yes! I mostly use UK terms, as I’m from the U.K 🇬🇧. I do try to include US Terms but in case I miss them here they are 😊 Thank you 😊
0.25mm - 30 AWG
0.4mm - 26 AWG
0.6mm - 22 AWG
0.8mm - 20 AWG
0.9mm - 19 AWG
1mm - 18 AWG
1.25mm - 16 AWG
1.5mm - 14 AWG
2mm - 12 AWG
Tools used;
Flush cutters
chain nose pliers
6 step bail making pliers using the 2mm and 10 mm mandrels
round nose pliers

Love your design and the manner you present everything! I am so glad I found your channel. I appreciate your guide for comparing mm and gauges. The only thing I’m having a bit of a problem with is centimeters to inches on the length of the wires. Could you prepare the same kind of guide as the mm/gauges?

I've made this chain before but not with beads. I have struggled with the hook portion but thanks to your tips it will be much easier 😀. I use it to make bracelets and can't wait to make some for my friends and family 😊

Thank you for your really beautiful work. Only one question, please. Will the metal change its colour later? Probably yes. What do you do then? Is it possible to prevent that? (Sorry, 3 questions:-))

Hi, if you are using bare copper it will naturally patina (age) over time. But you can protect it with a sealing wax. I use Renaissance Wax on my jewellery.
