Katmai National Park located in the southwestern part of Alaska was truly amazing and we really enjoyed our adventure to this wonderful, but hard to get to and remote National Park. We camped at the Brooks Camp Campground in our tent for two nights out with the bears and visited the park for three days. Part of the adventure was getting there....we flew from Sacramento to Anchorage where we switched planes and flew 280 miles southwest to the small fishing village of King Salmon. From King Salmon we took the National Park Service concessionaire's water-taxi 45 minutes to Brooks Camp. It was exciting and such a fun park to see the Grizzly Bears (Brown Bears of Katmai) in action catching salmon out of Brooks Falls and to hike into the Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes was such a treat. At many times while watching the bears in action, I said to myself, "This is like watching the Nature Channel Live"! Watching these solitude creatures interact and challenge each other in such a small area for that best fishing spot on Brooks Falls was educational and interesting. It was such a unique and once in a lifetime experience and adventure! I hope you enjoy the video we made of our trip, it will be in the top 5 of all the National Parks that we visit and the wonderful memories will stay with us for a lifetime!
