I bought one packet with the two cars plus a brown loco and also got one other of just the orange loco. Great tip on painting along with the dark wash to bring out the details.

The Microace 'C Type' locos are also very good little N gauge starter locos, and they do them in several different body styles, though I'm not sure if they are readily available in the UK.

Brilliant! I was wondering about how easy it would be to remove the pantograph and use it as a diesel ('cos I'm so ham fisted I'd be certain to knock the poles over when uncoupling!) and you've read my mind! Great video as always, Andrew🙂

The pantograph is a big improvement on the fixed plastic one that came on mine from the previous production. Unfortunately, the steam locomotive in this range is a dummy, using a powered coach. Hoping you come up with a couple of body conversions for this chassis. Hope to figure out how to convert it to Micro/Trains couplers. Cheers!

The steam loco is still very nice for an oval set up. I'm hoping they might make a diesel in the range at some point

If you just want something that runs fine and looks like railway rolling stock, that's a deal. About the running qualities, the Japanese N scale rolling stock I had bought is my best running one overall, just at the same level as my HO German rolling stock (this one not at the same price !). Kato makes here what nearly everyone wants for model trains : simple, good-looking, decently priced and reliable rolling stock. Why does no one else understood this trend ?
@BudgetModelRailways

Agreed, only my Piko hobby line locos are as good, and again that's a budget range. Such a shame there is no OO equivalent

I’ve got the Kato BR Industrial N gauge set coming soon after much deliberation over TT120 vs N gauge vs Z scale. Hopefully this cheap entry point will give a newbie like my an idea whether to get seriously into the hobby. The unitrack was the main selling point in the end and I wanted a reliable budget savvy loco to kick things off. Fingers crossed!

You won't be disappointed by either the loco or the track. Check out Peco N gauge wagons kits for cheap rolling stock

Very interesting concept that. Not my personal interest, but as you say I can see how it's a good option for someone getting into the hobby, & especially with those prices, a lot better than the offerings of a certain well established company's reinvented scale....

I tell you what mate, this is a great idea for anyone in another scale that just wants an N gauge desktop project if they fancy doing something a little bit different, or indeed if they fancy going continental. I like that they are realistic looking with the merest of additional touches and at that price you’re not going to have the fear of taking a craft knife to them anything like if it’s a UK model! 🤔 I must say I am surprised how good those locos are for the price and there is plenty of scope for even a moderately skilled modeller to fill their boots, especially if there are steam models available in the range too 😎 Cheers mate 🍀👍🍻

Great video again but just thought of something. If you want to increase the possibilities in shunting you can use power routing points to get a second loco into the shunting game. Or if you use powered overhead lines you could use a loco that gets its power from that line without the need for DCC.
@BudgetModelRailways

Great review thanks. Is this the smallest n gauge engine you have come across? Am trying emulate an engine that would bring coal out of a mine in tipping bucket type wagon. Any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks Stu

Thanks. I am not sure if it's the smallest, but it is small, very reliable and cheap. Some of the UK shunters are four times the price and I doubt they run any better?

I model in OO gauge but I can see this would be very good for new people just starting out in the hobby as the prices are getting ridiculous with Hornby. Is the track more expensive than OO gauge or is it about the same?

A couple of questions: Can we assume that as the driving force is in a coupled wagon, that should we have another make of wagons, they can not use them with Kato engines, and if they can will the couplings be compatible
@BudgetModelRailways
@BudgetModelRailways Жыл бұрын
@@keithwreyford999 these are not like the steam loco, the loco is the powered chassis so you can use it to haul other wagons, the couplings are standard Arnold style so fully compatible with other wagons etc
