I'm light skinned but I wasn't taught to be light skinned. I was taught to be myself. When I moved to the South I learned how divided it could really be with the entire light skin/brown skin thing. Even tho I'm Black & Hispanic I was around my Father's family more so always just consider my self black but often wasn't excepted as such.

Nini Sims I’m from the UK and it’s more of a ‘birds of a feather flock together’ situation. For example when I went to uni, all the ‘coloured’ ppl linked up. St. Lucians, Mozambique’s, mixed chicks, Nigerians, Jamaicans etc. We all encouraged and motivated each other up till graduation. Never let anyone divide and conquer. Maybe colorism is more prominent in the states, or maybe it’s because I’m not fully black that I don’t feel the wrath of being of that skin tone. Either way we don’t let colour deter us from our goals and ambitions over here and no external sources should ever make u feel anything other than the beautiful chocolate women you are!

She moved me away because she was worried i would get pregnant young.... Now that i am 27 and childless- the joke is on her.
